Tuacahn Center Comes Back to L-Acoustics

IVINS, UT – The Tuacahn Center for the Arts in Utah’s Padre Canyon has moved from its old dV-DOSC system to a new Kara rig. While the dV-DOSC sonically covered the venue’s seating area and kept sonic energy off the rock walls, the Kara system has improved on that, according to Deward Timothy, Poll Sound’s owner and president.

K-array Performs in Heart of Amazon Rainforest

MANAUS, BRAZIL – Rental company Gabisom turned to a K-array system to solve some sound reinforcement challenges for the Amazonia Live opening show in the Amazon rainforest. Event organizers created a floating stage in the form of a leaf in the middle of the river, and production was forced to transport all equipment by air and water.

Masque Sound Soars with Cirque du Soleil’s ‘Paramour’

NEW YORK — Masque Sound is providing a custom audio equipment package for Cirque du Soleil’s ‘Paramour’ now running on Broadway. The biggest challenge faced – and solved – by the designers was the acoustics of the Lyric Theatre itself. The theatre has been beautifully renovated but had some acoustical hindrances. Masque Sound solved it with a custom PA system of KV2 Audio speakers, along with other gear.

ESA and ESTA to Meet in Las Vegas on ‘The Event Safety Guide, Second Edition’

LAS VEGAS – The Event Safety Alliance (ESA) and the Entertainment Services and Technology Association (ESTA) have agreed on a joint copyright that will allow a second edition of The Event Safety Guide to be developed as an American National Standard (ANS). To take on the project, a new working group is being created within ESTA’s Technical Standards Program (TSP) called the Event Safety Working Group (ESWG). Leading the new group will be co-chairs Dr. Donald Cooper, Executive Director of the ESA, and Richard Nix, Special Project Manager for ZFX, Inc.
