Carvin Audio to Close San Diego Factory, Liquidation Sale In Progress

SAN DIEGO, CA – Carvin Audio announced Oct. 9 on its Facebook page that it would be closing its San Diego factory, “It is with a heavy heart that we announce that the Carvin Audio factory will be closing its doors after over 70 years,” the post read. “We are thankful for the many years we’ve had in this business and the support you all have given us.” The company has announced a liquidation sale on its website at carvinaudio.com.

New Arena in Quebec is One of First to Install Nexo Speaker System

LAVAL, Quebec – Place Bell, a 10,000-seat amphitheater located north of Montreal, is one of the first North American venues with an arena-sized installation of a Nexo line array system. The venue, designed for sporting and musical events ranging from Cirque du Soleil shows, Marvel Universe Live shows, and big concerts featuring top drawing bands like The Scorpions and The Killers, opened Sept. 1. The arena, home to the Laval Rocket hockey team, will also be used for presentations and community activities.

Hometown Hero Finalists Named; Other Parnelli Nominations Continue

LAS VEGAS – FRONT of HOUSE readers have chosen the six regional winners of this year’s Hometown Hero Award competition. These top vote getters from each of five U.S. regions plus all of Canada will be automatically entered on the Parnelli Awards ballot. FOH readers will then get a chance to vote on which regional company will be awarded the coveted honor of Parnelli Hometown Hero Sound Company of the Year. The Parnelli Ballot will be posted on parnelliawards.com in early November. The nominations process for all remaining Parnelli Award categories is now underway.

RCF Brews Up New Sound at Brues Alehouse

PUEBLO, CO – Brues Alehouse turned to DeHerrera Event Services for an RCF V45 system. DeHerrera Event Services, a local event production company that has been servicing the region for over 30 years, chose the RCF system to meet the venue’s particular audio needs. The RCF V45 is a high-powered dual 15″ two-way cabinet with a 4″ high frequency compression driver with a frequency response down to 40 Hz.

Scott Lehrer Uses d&b audiotechnik for Broadway Revival of ‘Hello Dolly’

NEW YORK – Sound designer Scott Lehrer chose an array of d&b audiotechnik components for the Broadway revival of the musical, Hello Dolly, featuring Bette Midler in the title role. The production is being staged at the Shubert Theater. Lehrer, who also recently supported the audio needs of another Broadway classic, Fiddler on the Roof, spoke of how the d&b system overcame some audio challenges posed by this particular venue.
