David Scheirman Takes Office as AES President

NEW YORK –  David Scheirman has taken office as the new president of AES, bringing his 40 years of industry experience to the organization, which continues its mission of promoting audio science and education. As a longtime active member of the AES, Scheirman has already served three terms on the Board of Governors, along with numerous roles and chair positions at AES conventions and within the AES committee system. He first became an AES member in 1975.

In Memoriam: John Stiernberg, 66

SHERMAN OAKS, CA – John Stiernberg, 66, president and founder of Stiernberg Consulting, died Nov. 11, 2017 after a months-long battle with cancer. Along with the consulting work with the firm he had founded in 1993 with his wife, Jeanne, Stiernberg supported music and technology education and was active in NAMM, InfoComm, NSCA and CEDIA. A frequent contributor to industry publications, he also wrote the music industry guidebook, Succeeding in Music: Business Chops for Performers and Songwriters (Backbeat Books, 2002).

Texas State Mariachi Festival Heard via Danley Sound Labs System

SAN ANTONIO, TX – The 2017 Texas University Interscholastic League (UIL) State Mariachi Festival, drawing student mariachi performers from around Texas, turned to Hermes Music of Pharr, TX for a live sound reinforcement assist. Hermes Music provided Danley Sound Labs’ SM-80 full-range loudspeakers, TH-118 subwoofers and a single four-channel, 20,000-watt Danley DNA 20k4 Pro amplifier to power the system during the two-day event, staged at Southwest High School in San Antonio.
