ATK Audiotek Provides JBL Loudspeakers for 55th Grammy Awards

LOS ANGELES — ATK Audiotek supported the 55th Grammy Awards, held in Staples Center here Feb. 10, with a sound system centered on JBL loudspeakers. The L-R setup started with12 VTX V25 fullsize line array elements per side for the main PA, with additional left-right columns of 12 V25 per side for out fill, along with a center cluster of 18 VTX S28 arrayable subwoofers in cardioid mode (two arrays of nine S28 subs each), for a total of 66 VTX loudspeakers. Six VRX932 Constant Curvature loudspeakers served as front fill, with left-right rear delay arrays of eight VerTec VT4889 fullsize line array elements each. Crown amplifiers powered the speakers.

Presidential Inauguration Events Supported by K-array Loudspeakers

WASHINGTON, DC — As is typical, President Obama’s second inauguration in late January was accompanied by a wide variety of private parties and other celebratory events.  All Stage & Sound, Inc., Laytonsville, MD, which supported activities held at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, the United States Institute of Peace, The Italian Embassy, Cafe Milano and elsewhere, relied upon K-array gear, which is distributed by Sennheiser.

Guitarist Paco Peña Touring with DPA Microphones

NEW YORK — Sound engineer Raul Mendez has been relying upon DPA Microphones for guitarist Paco Peña’s current tour in the U.S. and U.K.  Mendez selected the d:vote 4099 Instrument mics, 4061 Omni Miniature mics and d:fine Headset mics for the tour, crediting them for help in achieving consistent sound quality as the tour moves to different venues.

Brian Anderson Mixes Vintage Trouble on New Yamaha CL5 Console

NASHVILLE — Sound Image has provided a Yamaha CL5 console for FOH engineer Brian Anderson, who is touring in support of Vintage Trouble, the opening act for The Who’s Quadrophenia and More tour. Anderson credited the console for its sound quality, ergonomics and ability to handle both the FOH mix along with four IEM mixes and a 24-track ProTools recording using Audinate’s Virtual Sound card.
