Hamburg’s Ohnsorg Theater Installs Alcons Gear

HAMBURG, Germany — In July 2011, the Ohnsorg Theater, which performs using the traditional Platt language spoken in parts of western Germany, relocated from their former space, Grossen Bleichen, to the Heidi-Kabel-Platz theater within Hamburg’s historic Bieberhaus. Protones Audiotechnik recently provided Alcons gear to optimize the sound within the 414-seat space.

After Leadership Change, Avid Delays Q4 2012 Earnings Report

BURLINGTON, MA — Avid Technology Inc., based here, announced on Feb. 25 that its Q4 2012 earnings report, originally due to be released on Feb. 26, would be delayed. The company, which made a costly foray into audio and video editing products for consumers before selling those businesses last year, has been reportedly struggling for profitability since 2005. Avid had previously announced on Feb. 11 that its president and CEO, Gary Greenfield, had voluntarily resigned his post and would be replaced by one of the company’s directors, Louis Hernandez, Jr.

PA Geluid Invests in Outline Mini-COM.P.A.S.S. System

BEUNINGEN, The Netherlands — PA Geluid, based here, recently invested in a Mini-COM.P.A.S.S. (COMpact Polar Adjustable Sound System) speaker package.  The order, made through Outline’s distributor for Benelux/Germany, The Audio Specialists, includes 12 Mini-COM.P.A.S.S., two Flysub 15 and two DBS-18-2 subwoofers. The systems — all self-powered — feature Outline’s proprietary iMode technology.

The Who’s 2012-2013 Quadrophenia Tour Includes DiGiCo SD7 Consoles

NEW YORK — Eighth Day Sound is supporting The Who’s 2012-2013 Quadrophenia and More tour with a pair of SD7 desks for FOH and monitors, plus an SD-Rack at FOH and a d&b audiotechnik J-Series PA. Crew members Robert Collins and Simon Higgs, along with Mark Brnich, Drew Marbar and Carl Popek, are putting the gear through its paces, taking advantage of recently-developed features for the shows.
