Murphy Canyon Military Chapel Installs QSC Audio Gear

SAN DIEGO, CA – AV systems integrator CCS Presentation Systems, Inc. recently upgraded the Murphy Canyon Chapel, located in the Aero Ridge community of the Murphy Canyon Military Housing complex here, with a comprehensive package of equipment from QSC Audio. The upgrade includes a Q-Sys Core 250i Integrated System Platform controlling  KLA Line Array Loudspeakers  and  K Series K10 active monitors in the main chapel, with AcousticDesign  surface and ceiling-mount speakers powered by ISA Series Amplifiers in a smaller chapel and a community room.

Masque Sound Supports Broadway’s “Lucky Guy”

NEW YORK – Nora Ephron’s Lucky Guy, which was nominated for seven Tony Awards and won two, features Tom Hanks in the lead role as tabloid columnist Mike McAlary, the actor’s Broadway debut. Sound designer Scott Lehrer, associate sound designer Drew Levy and production sound mixer David Stollings are working with a Masque Sound-supplied equipment package that included a Yamaha DM2000 (24-bit, 96-KHz) console, d&b audiotechnik speakers and Sennheiser wireless.

Kinky Boots, The Nance Take Top Tony Honors for Sound Design

NEW YORK — The Broadway musical Kinky Boots, pictured here, was honored with six Tony Awards this year, including Best Musical and Best Original Score. Kinky Boots’ sound designer, John Shivers, also picked up the 2013 Tony for Best Sound Design of a Musical. The winner for Best Sound Design of a Play was Leon Rothenberg for The Nance. The awards were presented at Radio City Music Hall June 9.

Stadium in Mauritius Upgrades to a Weatherproof Speaker System

CUREPIPE, Mauritius – George V Stadium here recently approved the installation of One Systems Direct Weather, high-output loudspeakers.  Prosound (Pty) Ltd. of Johannesburg, South Africa performed the site analysis and system design. Rentacolor Mauritius LTD, installed the loudspeakers. George V Stadium is the home of the island nation’s national football (soccer) team, nicknamed Club M.

Brett Orrison Using Waves Live Tools at FOH for The Black Angels

TEL AVIV, Israel — Waves Audio is seeing a growing number of up-and-coming live engineers turning to Waves Live tools, including Brett Orrison, FOH engineer for The Black Angels. For the band’s 2013 Indigo Meadow tour, Orrison is using Waves’ MultiRack SoundGrid System with two DSP servers and an Allen & Heath iDR64 that is equipped with an M-Waves card and the iLive T112 surface. He uses a Dell Precision Laptop to steer the SoundGrid DSP servers while multi-track recording with PreSonus Studio One.

Charges Filed in Radiohead Staging Collapse

TORONTO — The Ontario Ministry of Labor, which has been investigating what led to the structural collapse that killed drum tech Scott Johnson, 33, on June 16, 2012, filed eight charges against Live Nation Canada Inc. and Live Nation Ontario Concerts GP Inc., four charges against Optex Staging & Services Inc., and a single charge against Domenic Cugliari, an engineer based in Bolton, ON, according to reports.
