Riedel Systems Support Winter Olympics

SOCHI, Russia — Following its involvement in support the needs of the Summer Olympics, Riedel Communications is providing a large-scale communications network infrastructure for the 2014 Winter Games. Riedel’s MediorNet fiber-based network helps transport HD video and audio signals, data and Riedel Artist intercom signals. Organizers also opted for a Riedel Mass Cast deployment with 14 transmitters and thousands of receivers and earpieces for the big opening and closing ceremonies.

National Television Awards at O2 Arena Heard via Martin Audio MLA System

LONDON – Britain’s 19th National TV Awards were held recently at London’s O2. Stewart Chaney’s London-based Plus 4 Audio handled the audio in the venue, specifying a Martin Audio MLA (Multi-cellular Loudspeaker Array) system. The event, initiated in 1995 and moved to the O2 in 2010, featured host Dermot O’Leary and celebrated the most popular TV shows of the past year.

LAS VEGAS — Shortly after the Feb. 2014 issue of FRONT of HOUSE magazine went to press, the staff noticed a flaw with the graphic accompanying the Tech Preview feature on Meyer Sound’s new LYON Linear Line Array, which was printed on page 42. Meyer Sound had provided a correct image; the image was accidentally changed due to a production error.

Rock of Ages Tour Gets Masque Sound Support

NEW YORK — Sound designer Craig Cassidy turned to Masque Sound to help create an arena rock sound for the touring musical, Rock of Ages, which features the music of Journey, Night Ranger, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi and other 1980s hit-making bands. Along with DiGiCo consoles at FOH (SD 10) and monitors (SD 8), Masque Sound provided tower line array elements including Meyer Sound MICA and 600 HP subs. Masque Sound also provided Sennheiser 5212 transmitters, matching 1046 receivers and coupled them with DPA 4066 omnidirectional headset mics along with an assist with frequency coordination.
