ATLANTIC CITY — Held in honor of Mother’s Day the following day, the annual Mother’s Day Festival took place May 10 at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall. For the third year, ACIR Professional (Mays Landing, NJ) provided audio production services for the 14,500 attendees. This year’s lineup included Charlie Wilson, Gladys Knight, and Heads of State featuring Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant, and Johnny Gill.

Sound Works Pro Provides NEXO and Yamaha Gear for Philfest 2014

EVANSTON, IL — For Philfest, a bluegrass and folk music festival held annual in memory of former Northwestern student Phil Semmer, who died in 2000, Sound Works Productions provided 10 NEXO GEO S12 (flown), four RS18 Ray Subs (ground stacked) and two NEXO PS10s speakers (for front fills), all driven with their NEXO NX4x4 amp rack. A Yamaha M7CL was used at FOH with an LS9 at monitors. The Deadly Gentleman from Boston headlined, followed by Sunnyside Up and Todd Kessler.

SE Systems Provides DiGiCo SD Series Consoles for MerleFest 2014

WILKESBORO, NC — Country music’s Alan Jackson and Merle Haggard and bluegrass icons Dr. Ralph Stanley and Ricky Skaggs were among the 130 acts over four days in late April for MerleFest 2014. As has been the case for the past 26 years, DiGiCo consoles processed much of the music emanating from the festival’s 13 stages. SE Systems provided the consoles.

Mauritius Resort Installs One Systems Loudspeakers

BELLE MAR, Mauritius — Rentacolor Mauritius LTD was called in to design the new system for The Lux Belle Mare resort on the east coast of Mauritius, an island nation in the Indian Ocean. Megadeth Engineers Using DiGiCo Gear on Tour

NEWPORT, WA — Sound engineer Bradley Johnson of KRF Audio, based here, owns his own DiGiCo gear and will typically bring it with him when touring in support of Megadeth. Both he and monitor engineer Dave Rupsch (pictured L-R, with DiGiCo’s SD10 at FOH) are relying on the brand for Megadeth’s performances around the world.

Aladdin Cast, Orchestra Heard via DPA Microphones

NEW YORK — Sound designer Ken Travis turned to DPA Microphones’ d:screet 4061 Omnidirectional Microphones to close-mic the entire cast of the staged musical, Aladdin, which opened recently on Broadway. The production’s orchestra is also equipped with d:dicate 2011C Twin Diaphragm Cardioid and d:vote 4099 instrument microphones.
