Wenger Acquires J.R. Clancy, Penn-Elcom Acquires CLD Distribution

OWATONNA, MN and WASHINGTON, U.K. – Wenger Corporation is acquiring J.R. Clancy, and Penn-Elcom is acquiring CLD Distribution. The acquiring companies in both cases are keeping the leadership and brands of the companies they are acquiring intact. Rigging company J.R. Clancy will still be based in Syracuse, NY, led by Bob Theis and Mike Murphy.  CLD Distribution will be integrated within Penn Elcom, but will continue with its own operation, identity and trading contacts under the Penn Elcom umbrella, with founder Nigel Howes and Sandra Connolly still on board.

Wenger Corporation Acquires J.R. Clancy

OWATONNA, MN – Wenger Corporation signed an agreement to acquire theatrical rigging company, J. R. Clancy, Inc. The two companies plan to operate as complementary businesses. J.R. Clancy, led by Bob Theis and Mike Murphy, will remain J.R. Clancy. Wenger, led by Bill Beer, will remain Wenger. The headquarters of J.R. Clancy will remain in Syracuse and the headquarters for Wenger will remain in Owatonna. Both companies anticipated synergies including enhanced product development, buying power and best practices.

Penn-Elcom Acquires and Integrates CLD Distribution

WASHINGTON, U.K. – Penn Elcom, a manufacturer of flightcase and a speaker solutions specialist, has acquired CLD Distribution, whose business focuses on cables, connectors, lamps and LED lightsources. Although CLD has been integrated within Penn Elcom, CLD will continue with its own operation, identity and trading contacts, but under the Penn-Elcom umbrella.

AES Executive Director Roger Furness To Step Down

NEW YORK – Jim Kaiser, president of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) has announced that Roger Furness, AES executive director since 1994, will step down from his position at the end of 2011. An AES member since 1975, Furness has served as Section Chair, Vice President AES Europe and as AES President. To ensure continuity in all aspects of the AES organization, the Executive Committee has asked him to remain as Executive Director Emeritus throughout 2012.
