Music Group Names Paul Wright VP, Global Sales

BOTHELL, WA — Music Group named Paul Wright vice president of global sales. Wright will lead the company’s worldwide sales teams and manage strategy and revenue in all markets for the company’s brands and divisions, including Behringer, Bugera, Midas and Klark Teknik products. Prior to Music Group, Wright served as VP of sales and marketing EMEA for Numark’s brand portfolio. Prior to Numark, he worked for eight years as international sales director for Line 6. In his new role, Wright will be based at Music Group’s worldwide sales office in Luxembourg.

Jim Long Retires from Electro-Voice

BURNSVILLE, MN — Electro-Voice announced that Jim Long retired in December 2011 after over 45 years with the company. He handled a wide variety of roles during that time, most recently as a member of the product marketing management team. EV credited Long for his technical know-how and communication skills, including his role in the development of the company’s  “PA Bible” – which remains in use today.

Martin Audio Names Jim Jorgensen MLA Support Specialist

WATERLOO, Ontario, Canada — To help support its Multi-cellular Loudspeaker Array (MLA) system, Martin Audio named Jim Jorgensen MLA Support Specialist, a new position. In his new role, he will work closely with engineers and production company owners. Jorgensen, who has been using Martin Audio products since 1978, has extensive experience with regional sound companies, including his own company, Genesis Productions in Phoenix, along with Sunbelt Scenic Studios and Clearwing Productions in Milwaukee and Arizona. He has also toured with leading artists such as Missy Elliott, Stevie Wonder, Tower of Power and, most recently, Sammy Hagar and Chickenfoot.

Gibson Buys Stake in Onkyo Japan and Majority Interest in Onkyo USA

NASHVILLE – Gibson Guitar Corp. announced a strategic partnership with Onkyo Corporation, saying Onkyo offers Gibson’s newly-formed Pro Audio Division substantial technology resources.  Gibson, in turn, will provide Onkyo with its marketing resources and expertise. As part of the deal, Gibson will acquire a majority of Onkyo USA, which is Onkyo’s exclusive distributor for North America and a distributor for Central and South America. The move also makes Gibson the second-largest shareholder in Onkyo Corporation.
