Harman Announces Staff Appointments for JBL, Loudspeaker SBU

NORTHRIDGE, CA – Harman Professional has announced several appointments for its JBL and Loudspeaker SBU division in recent weeks. After naming Henry Goldansky director of engineering and Vince Grieb senior director, operations for the Loudspeaker SBU in late March, Harman’s early April announcements included Brian Divine as director of marketing and, for JBL, Mark Gander (pictured here) as director of technology and John Powell as director of sales.

Bob McCarthy Returns to Meyer Sound as Director of System Optimization

BERKELEY, CA — Meyer Sound named Bob McCarthy to the newly created position of director of system optimization. McCarthy, who has extensive experience in sound system design and optimization and also an an educator and writer, will be a part of the R&D department, working on networked audio solutions. In addition, he will remain an active instructor in the Meyer Sound education program and support the design and commissioning of new Meyer Sound installations.

Mark Gander Named Director of JBL Technology

NORTHRIDGE, CA – Harman Professional has appointed Mark Gander to the position of director of JBL technology. In this newly created role, Gander will be responsible for driving the growth of the Harman intellectual property portfolio and supporting Harman’s technology leadership in the professional loudspeaker market. Gander joined JBL in 1976 as a transducer engineer and has subsequently held key product engineering and marketing positions within JBL Professional and the Loudspeaker Strategic Business Unit. He has held various executive and engineering positions of increasing seniority and responsibility over the course of his distinguished career, and is responsible for the design and development of some of JBL’s most significant loudspeaker technologies and products.

Guitar Center Names Mike Pratt CEO

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA — Guitar Center named Mike Pratt CEO. Pratt, who assumes the postion April 1, also joins the company’s board of directors. He succeeds Marty Hanaka, the company’s interim CEO, who will remain on the board and assist in the transition.
