But Jerry Hooper, owner of Norman, Okla.-based Hooper Sound Production Services, and house engineer Jeremy Griffin were able to use an Allen & Heath iLive-144 console to make sure the sound system was working at its best.

MIAMI – Royal Caribbean International's Oasis of the Seas, the world's largest cruise ship, has been equipped with Clear-Com's FreeSpeak digital wireless intercom system. Using FreeSpeak, the Oasis of the Seas crew coordinates many of the ship's theatrical productions, including several weekly runs of the Broadway-licensed musical, Hairspray.

NASHVILLE – In early May, the city of Nashville experienced some of the worst flooding in its history, which affected countless homes, studios, and venues, including the historic Grand Ole Opry House. Soundcheck, a large rehearsal facility and home to Shure's Nashville office, was partially submerged in up to four feet of water.

PONTIAC MI – As many as 10 workers setting up for A R Rahman's Jai Ho Concert: The Journey Home World Tour in the Silverdome sustained minor injuries June 19 from a stage collapse. The structural failure forced the show to be cancelled. A performance set for June 20 in Toronto also needed to be rescheduled.

LAS VEGAS – Viva ELVIS, the seventh resident production by Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas, combines Elvis, Broadway-style production numbers and Cirque-robatics, with audio elements including an eight-piece on-stage band, four female singers, the voice of Elvis and sound effects.
