CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox baseball organization, based at Chicago's U.S. Cellular Field, installed Shure's PSM900 Wireless Personal Monitor and UHF-R Wireless Microphone Systems for the 2011 season, upgrading from Shure's PSM700. The new gear helped the baseball organization avoid running afoul of new FCC regulations on permissible spectrum band frequencies.

NEW YORK – Book of Mormon took home nine of the 14 Tony Awards it had been nominated for earlier this year, including one for Best Sound Design. To optimize the sound – especially for the area where theatre critics and other VIPs are seated – sound designer Brian Ronan and production engineer Christopher Sloan used a downfill array of nine L-Acoustics dV-DOSC cabinets in a nearly horizontal orientation to overcome challenges posed by the musical's scenic elements.

ORLANDO – Online registration for the 2011 Parnelli Awards closes TODAY, Oct, 25 2011, at 8 p.m. PST. Nearly 600 people have pre-registered for the awards dinner, which will take place Oct. 29 at the Peabody Orlando. The evening features hosts Flo & Eddie of Turtles fame along with honorees Ed Wannebo (Lifetime Achievement), Kenton Forsythe (Audio Innovator) and Jim Fackert (Parnelli Visionary). The pre-gala festivities start at 7 p.m., followed by the Parnelli Awards dinner at 8 p.m.

STAMFORD, CT – Pascom designed a multimedia AV system for St. John's Episcopal Church's Eagles Loft, a former basketball court that now serves as a multi-function gathering space. The AV system for the 200-capacity space includes a Duran Audio DSX-180 stereo line array, a Bose 502B subwoofer powered by a QSC amplifier, an Eiki HD video projection system and Symetrix Solus 8 signal processing.

NEW YORK – Le Poisson Rouge, a three-year-old club situated on the site of the former Village Gate, has featured an eclectic range of music. The venue has scored points with both performers and listeners with Sennheiser's evolution series microphones.

NEW YORK – Carl Casella, the sound designer for the Broadway production of Relatively Speaking, credited Outline's Mini-COM.P.A.S.S. powered line array speakers for playing a valuable supporting role for the dialogue-driven play, which is directed by actor/director John Turturro and was written by Ethan Coen, Elaine May and Woody Allen.

WALNUT GROVE, NC – Moxley Production Services provided One Systems 212IM direct weather loudspeakers for Stokes High School's athletic field, which can handle a crowd of up to 2,000 people.

FARIBAULT, MN – Fette Productions, which specializes in sound reinforcement for orchestras, concerts and live shows, has been using its Astatic 1700VP remote control variable pattern mics to address the challenges posed by concerts that combine a band and choir. Owner Roger Fette cited the ability to get a more desirable sound from fewer mics with the Astatic gear.

DULUTH, MN – TSI Technology Solutions LLC, working with consultant Gary White of WHJW, designed and installed the audio system for the new AMSOIL arena. The venue is part of the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center and home to University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) Bulldogs men's and women's hockey teams. They managed to provide coverage for the 6,600-to-8,500-capacity venue with only 12 line arrays, each composed of either four or six Electro-Voice EVA-2082S line array modules – with 64 used in all. The system also includes eight EVH-1152S loudspeakers used as downfills and a pair of FRi-2082 loudspeakers for fill under a couple of small overhangs.

INDIANAPOLIS – For Eastern Star Church's new 3,000-capacity Northwest location, CSD, Inc. provided a NEXO GEO S12 line array system that includes 14 GEO S1210s and 27 GEO S1230s along with a Yamaha PM5D-RH digital audio console at front of house and an M7CL-48 for monitors.

OLD LYME, CT – Sennheiser announced that, starting Jan. 1, 2012, John Falcone, President and CEO of Sennheiser Electronic Corporation, will be promoted to the position of vice president sales, Americas. In his new position Falcone will head business in the Americas, including the U.S., Canada and Latin America.
