Chicago White Sox Ball Park Upgrades with New Shure Wireless Systems

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox baseball organization, based at Chicago's U.S. Cellular Field, installed Shure's PSM900 Wireless Personal Monitor and UHF-R Wireless Microphone Systems for the 2011 season, upgrading from Shure's PSM700. The new gear helped the baseball organization avoid running afoul of new FCC regulations on permissible spectrum band frequencies.

Award-Winning Sound Design for “Book of Mormon” Gets Assist from L-Acoustics Gear

NEW YORK – Book of Mormon took home nine of the 14 Tony Awards it had been nominated for earlier this year, including one for Best Sound Design. To optimize the sound – especially for the area where theatre critics and other VIPs are seated – sound designer Brian Ronan and production engineer Christopher Sloan used a downfill array of nine L-Acoustics dV-DOSC cabinets in a nearly horizontal orientation to overcome challenges posed by the musical's scenic elements.

Parnelli Awards Online Registration Closes TODAY

ORLANDO – Online registration for the 2011 Parnelli Awards closes TODAY, Oct, 25 2011, at 8 p.m. PST. Nearly 600 people have pre-registered for the awards dinner, which will take place Oct. 29 at the Peabody Orlando. The evening features hosts Flo & Eddie of Turtles fame along with honorees Ed Wannebo (Lifetime Achievement), Kenton Forsythe (Audio Innovator) and Jim Fackert (Parnelli Visionary). The pre-gala festivities start at 7 p.m., followed by the Parnelli Awards dinner at 8 p.m.

New Duluth Hockey Arena Equipped with Electro-Voice Arrays

DULUTH, MN – TSI Technology Solutions LLC, working with consultant Gary White of WHJW, designed and installed the audio system for the new AMSOIL arena. The venue is part of the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center and home to University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) Bulldogs men's and women's hockey teams. They managed to provide coverage for the 6,600-to-8,500-capacity venue with only 12 line arrays, each composed of either four or six Electro-Voice EVA-2082S line array modules – with 64 used in all. The system also includes eight EVH-1152S loudspeakers used as downfills and a pair of FRi-2082 loudspeakers for fill under a couple of small overhangs.
