3D Sound Installation Includes JBL PRX612M Speaker System

LONG BEACH, CA — The University Art Museum (UAM) at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) kicked off its new audio installation of “Metal Machine 3: The Creation of the Universe” with an appearance by Lou Reed. Arup provided the unique 3D sound needed for the event with 12 JBL PRX612M compact powered speakers, arrayed spherically to create an immersive 3D sound environment.

Salvation Army Church Equipped with Gear from Danley Sound Labs

CLEARWATER, FL — Paul Garner of Christian Sound Installations (CSI) recently replaced the sound system at the Salvation Army’s church here with gear from Danley Sound Labs. The setup, using custom-designed truss attached to the wooden ceiling,  includes two Danley SM-96 full-range loudspeakers rotated 90 degrees to provide 120 degrees of horizontal coverage. A pair of Danley SM-60Fs provide side fill from the same location.

Blue Microphones and TC Group End Exclusive Distribution Agreement

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA and RISSKOV, Denmark — Blue Microphones and TC Group International announced their mutual agreement to cease their distribution partnership. TC Group International will remain the distributor of Blue Microphones in the MI and Professional Audio sales channel until March 31, 2012. Over the coming months, Blue Microphones will transition away from distribution through TC Group International by partnering with European distributors on a country-by-country basis.

ACL Live, Equipped with Meyer Sound Gear, Named Best New Venue by Pollstar

Gand Adds GEO S12 to NEXO Arsenal

GLENVIEW, IL — Gand Concert Sound (GCS), based here, added an 18-box GEO S12 system to their rental inventory. “Yamaha brought in a road rig for a demo at the Viper Alley rock club in Lincolnshire, and not only did they like the system, our own crew was knocked out,” said GCS president Gary Gand. The new Gand NEXO system includes 16 GEO S1210 cabinets, two GEO S1230s, six NEXO NX4x4 amplifiers and four RS18 subwoofers.

BOONVILLE, CA — Sacramento Production Services (SMS), which has been supporting the three-day Sierra Nevada World Music Festival here for 16 years, was the first to use Lab.gruppen’s PLM 20000Q amplifiers. SMS’ Keith Wackford and Dwaine Wise noted that, along with great sound, the amps helped sharply reduce the number of racks that SMS needed to use to support the event.

Pavilion at Hollywood Casino Joliet Rises from the Ashes with K-array

JOLIET, IL — The entertainment and dining pavilion at Hollywood Casino Joliet, which includes the Hollywood Stadium stage, pictured here, was destroyed by a fire in March 2009. It has since been restored with an audio assist from a new K-array system including two KK200 arrays mounted to poles on either side of the stage, four KL108ma subwoofers mounted inside the stage and four KF12 self-powered monitors.
