SPOKANE, WA — The church leaders at South Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church here had been satisfied with their older, center cluster sound system for years. Used primarily for the spoken word, church members found it adequate for their services. But that all changed when Summit Ridge Christian Fellowship, also in Spokane, brought in their portable system for the services they hold at South Hill. Featuring Fulcrum Audio loudspeakers powered by Powersoft amplifiers, the portable church system helped the church leaders hear what they had been missing.

WICHITA, KS — Event Systems, based here, an L-Acoustics certified partner, recently designed and installed a KIVA-KILO system at Sebits Auditorium on the campus of Friends University, a private Christian liberal arts school also in Wichita.

CLEVELAND, OH — Axl Rose didn’t show, but Audio-Technica microphones were very much present at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s annual induction ceremony – for the 15th year in a row, in fact. A-T supplied over 50 mics to capture the audio for the 27th annual ceremony, which took place at the Public Auditorium here on April 14. M3 (Music Mix Mobile) handled the event’s live and recorded audio segments.

BRIGANTINE, NJ — During the summer, the number of church-goers at St. Thomas the Apostle Church swells from 1,000 to 3,000 or more. To accommodate the seasonal surge, video and audio from the main sanctuary (also renovated to accommodate more people) is now seen and heard at a new overflow event center. ACIR Professional provided new gear including a Yamaha MG series mixer and installed and portable JBL speakers.

LAS VEGAS — The 47^th annual ACM Awards, held here last month at the MGM Arena, featured new and established country music artists who used Sennheiser gear, including Vocalist of the Year winners Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert and emerging artist Jana Kramer.

CHICAGO —  Originally making its debut in 1959, and recently celebrating its 50th birthday, Second City Comedy Theatre has opened the UP Comedy Club, a new theatre in the Piper’s Alley area of Chicago. The new audio system includes a Yamaha LS9-32 digital console and Nexo PS8 speakers.

SEDONA, AZ — Enchantment Resort’s $8 million renovation to its main building, the Clubhouse, which began last November, included a new sound system. IT director Bob Gassick’s new system, first heard when the Clubhouse reopened in late March, incorporated a modular Ashly ne24.24M processor and paired Ashly NE-Series amplifiers.

PORTLAND, OR — A $40 million renovation to Jeld-Wen Field, home of Major League Soccer’s Portland Timbers, added 5,000 seats for a total capacity of 22,000. The upgrade also included 800 square feet of LED video screens and a new sound system with Community Professional loudspeakers.
