BAM Venue Opens with Support from Auerbach Pollock Friedlander

NEW YORK — The recently opened Richard B. Fisher Building at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) is a seven-story building that houses the 250-seat Fishman Space and Scripps Stage, which can be configured as for a proscenium stage, thrust stage, theatre-in-the-round or a flat floor. Auerbach Pollock Friedlander worked with architects H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture and acoustician Akustiks on the project, which also included the Fisher Hillman Studio, a rehearsal hall/performance venue.

“Frankenstorm” Shuts Broadway for a Third Day

NEW YORK — With mass transit still snarled by the surge of seawater inundating neighborhoods and tunnels, the Broadway League, representing 40 theaters in the city, opted to pull the plug on performances Tuesday, Oct. 30, extending the storm-related shutdown that kept stages dark Sunday, Oct. 28 and Monday, Oct. 29. Among the cancelled productions for all three days: Broadway’s The Book of Mormon, Once and Mama Mia! and off-Broadway shows including Stomp, Bad Jews, Disgraced and Golden Child. At Carnegie Hall, appearances by the Tokyo String Quartet on Oct. 28 and Jadranka Jovanovic Oct. 29 were also canceled.

Indian film composer, singer and lyricist Maestro Dr. Ilaiyaraja will lead more than 100 Western and South Asian musical artists on stage. The audio setup will include 96 JBL VerTec 4889s, 12 4887s and 30 4880 Subs, all powered by Crown I-Tech 12000 HDs and Crown I-Tech 5000 HDs, with four Yamaha PM5D-RH FOH consoles and four Yamaha M7Cl-48s at monitors for control.

Soundcraft Vi Consoles Get Boost from V4.7 Software Release

POTTERS BAR, U.K. — Soundcraft has noted that its recent V4.7 release for its Vi console series has significantly expanded the input capacity for the Vi4 model, boosting it to 96 inputs, on par with Soundcraft Vi2 and Vi6 models. Show files are now fully compatible between Vi2, 4 and 6 consoles. Soundcraft also announced new Virtual Vi software for the Vi1 and a number of feature upgrades across the board.
