First Entertainment Innovation Conference Draws Close to 400 Attendees

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The first North American Entertainment Innovation Conference at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, sponsored by USITT, drew nearly 400 professionals and students Sept. 6-8 with hands-on sessions and workshops detailing new technologies. Meyer Sound teamed up with Broadway sound designer Tony Meola, pictured here. Meola worked with pros and students to fine-tune sound techniques using the sound bed from Wicked.

Clovis High School Stadium Installs Technomad Turnkey PA System

CLOVIS, NM — Clovis High School needed to replace the outdated, weather-damaged audio system at its 1,500-capacity outdoor stadium. Wes-Tex Audio Electronics provided a solution in the form of a Turnkey PA system from Technomad. The new system includes four Technomad Berlin weatherproof loudspeakers, a pre-wired amplifier, a dynamic hard-wired microphone and a six-channel mixer with front-panel iPod/mp3 inputs.

Sonoma State University Music Hall Opens to the Outdoors in California’s Wine Country

SAN FRANCISCO — The Joan And Sanford I. Weill Hall, at Sonoma State University’s Donald and Maureen Green Music Center, opened in late September with a piano recital by Lang Lang. The 1,400-seat concert hall’s rear wall can be opened to provide viewing and listening from outdoor lawn seating for about 5,000 additional patrons.  Auerbach Pollock Friedlander provided acoustic and theatrical consulting services for the project.

ATK Audiotek Uses DNC for Launch of its Upgraded Powersoft Amps

CHARLOTTE, NC — ATK Audiotek supported the audio needs at the 2012 Democratic National Convention (DNC), held here in early September, with 474 of its Powersoft DIGAM K10 amplifiers. All had been upgraded all with DSP cards, and the upgraded gear, which gave the crew a new measure of control over processing, monitoring and other functionality using Powersoft’s Armonía Pro Audio Suite, was used for the first time at the convention, held within Time Warner Cable Arena.
