Onstage Systems Supplies L-Acoustics K1 System for Something Wicked EDM Festival

HOUSTON – Onstage Systems supplied a full L-Acoustics K1 stadium system for the main stage of the Something Wicked Festival, held Oct. 27 at Sam Houston Race Park. Onstage Systems, based in Dallas, recently added the L-Acoustics K1 system to their rental inventory, and the festival received positive reviews for sound in The Houston Post. Something Wicked was Texas’s first large-scale Halloween-oriented electronic dance music festival.

New Reports on Ottawa Bluesfest Staging Collapse Cite Choice of Fabric Wall Ties as Key Risk Factor

OTTAWA, Canada — Although Ontario Ministry of Labor officials issued a report earlier this year finding no evidence of structural defects that led to the July 18, 2011 collapse of the overhead stage structure during a Cheap Trick performance at the Ottawa Bluesfest, newly-published details cite the crew’s inability to quickly cut ties securing the structure’s fabric walls as a key factor contributing to wind loads on the structure as the storm hit the area.

Label Charlotte Using Allen & Heath iLive Digital Mixer

CHARLOTTE, NC — Since it opened Oct. 12, Label Charlotte, a 16,000-square-foot music/dance venue, has presented a mix of live bands and DJs with multiple genres of music. In its opening week, the venue featured a 16-piece salsa band. To support the featured nightly acts, and also corporate and other special events, the club’s audio staff and visiting engineers (including FOH engineer Andrew Ketchum, pictured here) have made good use of a new Allen & Heath iLive digital mixer.
