Oscars and Grammys Mixed on DiGiCo Consoles

LOS ANGELES —DiGiCo digital consoles and Optocore networks handled the elaborate needs of two major awards show productions recently — the 55th annual Grammy Awards, broadcast live from the Staples Center on Feb. 10 and seen by 28.37 million viewers on CBS (crew pictured here), and the 85th annual Academy Awards, staged at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood Feb. 24 with a live broadcast on ABC that peaked at 42.4 million viewers.

ISI Adds NEXO Geo S12 Gear to Rental Inventory

BRENTWOOD, MO — Ironman Sound Industries (ISI) recently added NEXO GEO S12 speaker enclosures to the company’s rental inventory.  Noting advantages of setting up the arrays in both vertical and horizontal settings, ISI said this flexibility would help adjust systems to the needs of different rooms, program content, and audience sizes.  The GEO S12 enclosures are powered by Nexo NXAMP4x4 amplifiers, with built-in processing functionality for additional fine-tuning. The system also promises to speed deployment.

Hamburg’s Ohnsorg Theater Installs Alcons Gear

HAMBURG, Germany — In July 2011, the Ohnsorg Theater, which performs using the traditional Platt language spoken in parts of western Germany, relocated from their former space, Grossen Bleichen, to the Heidi-Kabel-Platz theater within Hamburg’s historic Bieberhaus. Protones Audiotechnik recently provided Alcons gear to optimize the sound within the 414-seat space.
