JD Sound and Video Optimizes Community System at NJ School Stadium

VOORHEES, NJ — For the 2,500-capacity outdoor stadium at Eastern High School here, JD Sound and Video refurbished and re-aimed the existing four Community R-Series model R2-474 loudspeakers, adding Polar Focus brackets. JD also added a pair of WET Series W2-218s on the press box to cover the home-team bleachers and delayed the original R2s to avoid artificial echoes.  JD also added an R2-52 on the press box to cover the visiting team bleachers.  For Eastern’s pep rallies and special events, JD added a pair of weatherized Community iBOX dual-15” i215 subwoofers under the bleachers. They provide low-frequency support for the entire field.

LONG BEACH, CA — The 2013 TED Conference, held here Feb. 25-March 1, included more than 50 TED talks and musical performances that were recorded live and simulcast from the Long Beach PAC to a satellite location in Palm Springs, CA and the world at large via the Internet. The crew, from McCune Audio/Video/Lighting with an assist from Hi-Tech Audio and freelance FOH engineer Erik Sandberg, supported the event using a DiGiCo/Optocore setup.

Crew Member Dies after Fall in San Antonio’s AT&T Center

SAN ANTONIO — Thomas Dean Williams, 44, died April 5 after falling between 70 and 100 feet, according to local news reports. Williams was working on the venue’s concert lighting rig at the time and fell to the stage, where others were working. No other injuries were reported. The accident happened about 2 am Friday after a Romeo Santos concert took place at the venue Thursday night.
