Most Las Vegas Cirque Shows Go Dark for World Water Day, March 22

LAS VEGAS — “We would like to reinvent fundraising night,” said Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte to the Las Vegas Review Journal, explaining why six of the seven venues hosting Cirque productions would go dark on Friday, March 22. Morrissey North American Tour Canceled Due To Health Issues

LINCOLN, NE — Battling health issues that ranged from the diagnosis of a bleeding ulcer in January to pneumonia in both lungs earlier this month, Morrissey, 53, has been forced to cancel the remaining 22 tour dates on his on-again, off-again North American tour, which had been set to run through May 1. There are no plans to reschedule the shows, said Morrissey’s publicist, Lauren Papapietro.

Ultra Music Festival Main Stage Accident Injures Three

MIAMI — Three crew members were injured, two critically, when a section of video screen panels suspended some 30 feet above the Ultra Music Festival’s main stage fell during load-in at Bayfront Park here just before 8 p.m. March 14. After extensive safety checks during daylight hours March 15 by federal OSHA inspectors, the fire marshal and structural engineers, the main stage was approved for use and festival performances set for March 15-17 and 22-24 proceeded as planned.

Anschutz Company Says AEG No Longer for Sale

LOS ANGELES — The Anschutz Company announced that while it had been seeking a buyer for Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) since Sept. 2012, no suitable offer has been made. As a result, AEG is no longer for sale. In a statement released March 14, The Anschutz Company’s owner, Philip Anschutz, also noted that he will be assuming a more hands-on role again with AEG, and that Tim Leiweke, who had served as AEG’s president and CEO since 1996, is stepping down.
