FORT WAYNE, IN — Sweetwater Sound, the third largest retailer of music instruments and pro audio equipment in the U.S., said its GearFest 2013 event, held June 21 and 22, was a record-breaker, with more than 7,000 participants, up from 6,000 in 2012, and with sales up by more than 36% over GearFest 2012. Launched in 2002, GearFest has emerged as the nation’s largest end-user-oriented music and pro audio festival, featuring exhibits from more than 200 manufacturers along with workshops, clinics, and seminars; live demos; special performances; a musician’s flea market; and more.

NILES, IL — New Roads School opened its 344 seat, state-of-the-art, Ann and Jerry Moss Theater in February 2013, but before they could raise their curtain to the public, the facility needed a wireless microphone system. Working with Pro Sound & Video Los Angeles, New Roads School chose to install the Shure ULX-D Digital Wireless System and four ULXD4Q Quad Channel Digital systems into their new facility.

RALEIGH, NC – Christ Baptist Church and A/V integration firm Provision Audio/Video installed a new sound reinforcement system for the church’s 1,200-seat sanctuary. The new system is relying on Ashly Audio amplifiers and processing, along with a custom Ashly GUI to give the church reliable, high performance audio of the long haul.

MIAMI, FL — For the 2013 NBA Finals, noted for the Miami Heat’s ability to battle back from the brink of defeat in Game 6 and snatch the championship away from the San Antonio Spurs in Game 7, Professional Wireless Systems (PWS) was courtside at both Miami’s American Airlines Arena and the AT&T Center in San Antonio, coordinating RF for the more than 250 frequencies required. This marks the ninth consecutive year that PWS has managed the frequencies for the NBA Finals.

Brendan Hoffman, FOH engineer and production manager, credited the gear for enhancing the audiences’ electronic dance music (EDM) experience.

CARLSBAD, CA – Clifford Friedman, technology solutions architect at Telnet Solutions, led a team that installed 14 Shure ULX-D systems with SM58 handhelds and WL185 lavalier microphones for the main ballroom and five meeting rooms within the Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort & Spa here recently. Friedman also integrated the ULX-D system with the ballroom’s Q-SYS networking system so the Hilton’s meeting rooms could be controlled and routed from an iPad.

COLLEGE STATION, TX – For Breakaway Ministries, which sponsors weekly Bible study events on the campus of Texas A&M University here, Houston-based Puresound has been providing audio support. The gatherings, staged in either the Reed basketball arena or the Kyle Field football stadium, are heard via JBL VerTec speakers. Along with sound quality, Puresound needed a system that could be setup and taken down quickly. Each venue only allots an hour for setup and an hour for tear-down.

SAN ANTONIO, TX – The Whitley Conference center, located at The Oblate School of Theology, includes an auditorium, lecture halls, and classroom space in addition to a host of other amenities. San Antonio Sound & Light (SASL), worked with the school and Overland Partners, specified and installed Tannoy VX 8 loudspeakers and CVS 6 in-ceiling loudspeakers throughout the 24,000-square-foot facility.
