MOSINEE, WI – Joe Ellis, a professional commercial airline pilot who is also a professional musician, audio engineer and host on the TV show The Aviators, uses Harman’s Soundcraft Si Expression 3 console to mix live sound for a growing number of bands and events. He needed a digital console that “plays well” with other gear and also chose the Soundcraft Si Expression 3 for its sound quality.

PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ — Among the American firefighting community, the only day more tragic than June 30, 2013 was Sept. 11, 2001.  June 30 was the day when 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots from the Prescott Fire Department lost their lives fighting a wildfire near here, leaving behind 51 children. Dierks Bentley, The Band Perry and other artists teamed up and raised a reported $476,000 with the “Country Cares Concert,” a benefit performance that took place here on July 22.  All proceeds are going to the United Phoenix Firefighters, for direct distribution to surviving family members.

CHICAGO, IL – Sensaphonics recently added three audiologists to its “Gold Circle” network, including the group’s first Brazilian member. The two-day Gold Circle seminar, held June 21-22, included teaching sessions at Sensaphonics headquarters plus a hands-on lab session with a live band held at Mystery Street Recording Company (pictured here) in Chicago.

MONTREAL — Richard Forte of Forte Found, based here, supported jazz-pop singer Nikki Yanofsky at the July 4-6 Montreal Jazz Festival with an assist from LightViper, FiberPlex’ fiber optic transport system. His setup, which eliminates the need for a heavy copper snake, includes a head end mic preamp/line level unit, lighting multiplexer, MIDI interface, fiber optic connector, and Ethernet-to-fiber converter.

CALABASAS, CA – Mike West is a California-based acoustic guitarist and vocalist who plays well over 200 shows per year. For his current solo show, “Down To Earth – A Magical History Tour,” featuring the music of the Beatles, West upgraded with a new Line 6 StageSource loudspeaker system.

LAS VEGAS, NV — Audiotek’s Frank Murray specified Turbosound gear for Hakkasan, the new 10,000-square-foot, five-level nightclub at the MGM Grand on the Las Vegas Strip. The speaker setup starts with 24 TFA-600HW Flex Array modules and 12 TFA-600L cabinets, with a dance floor system that features six ground-stacked TFA-600B single 18” bass cabinets and three TFS-900Bi dual 18” subwoofers. Twenty-two TCX-8 and eight NuQ-6 loudspeakers supply under-balcony fill. Upstairs, an additional 21 TCX-8 are installed above the balcony..

LOS ANGELES, CA — Opened in 2012, Grand Park has been equipped with a fiber optic network and “media hydrants” throughout its 12 acres, allowing for a wider range of possible locations from where musicians can perform. Along with the Riedel light pipe data network, the park can make use of a new Soundcraft Vi1 mixing console for control.

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA — When the Williamstown Theatre Festival kicked off its 2013 summer season on June 26, Masque Sound marked its 10th season of providing audio equipment and services for the well-known event. Masque Sound is also once again providing audio equipment to Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte Theater in New York and The Muny in St. Louis.
