LAS VEGAS — The 2013 Parnelli Nomination Form is now open through late September — Sept. 27, at 5 pm PST, to be precise. All FRONT of HOUSE readers now have the opportunity to choose the people, companies and products that will appear on the final 2013 Parnelli ballot. That ballot will be posted online for voting throughout the month of October. The awards ceremony is set for Nov. 23, 2013.

BUFFALO, NY – Professional audio engineer David Perry recently purchased a Harman Soundcraft Si Expression 3 mixing console for use on a variety of regional events. A member of Buffalo, New York-based systems integration firm Ronco Specialized Systems and freelance broadcast engineer, Perry has already put the Si Expression 3 to the test this summer, using it for a variety of functions, including music festivals, corporate events and “Taste of Buffalo,” the second-largest food festival in the United States.

COLLEGE STATION, TX – Located a few miles from Texas A&M University, the new campus of College Station, TX-based College Station High School features a wealth of cutting-edge AV systems. More than 130 Meyer Sound loudspeakers are installed in 14 separate systems in the school’s classrooms, athletic facilities, and main theatre. These systems were designed by Houston-based HFP Acoustical Consultants.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Sunset Strip Music Festival (SSMF) began when iconic music venues along the famous boulevard banded together for a collaborative live music event. It has since expanded into the street, and for 2013 edition, Sound Image supported Linkin Park, Street Drum Corps, Finch, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and AWOLnation with Harman components including a JBL VTX system and Crown I-Tech HD amplifiers.

BALTIMORE — DiGiCo, Event Tech and Group One, Ltd. are joint sponsors of a two-day Masters Series seminar set for Baltimore Aug. 27-28. WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – Whisky A Go-Go, a nightclub based here, is known as the launching pad for a variety of high profile acts over the years. The venue recently added its first digital mixing consoles – Behringer X32s – at FOH and monitors. The consoles got high marks from Leonard Contreras, production manager and front of house engineer for the club.

MILWAUKEE, WI — At Summerfest 2013, Clearwing Productions provided an Outline GTO-based speaker system to support the audio requirements at Miller Lite Oasis Stage. Featured acts and genres at the 15,000-capacity venue ranged from Diplo (EDM), Dropkick Murphys (Celtic punk) and Imagine Dragons (rock) to Leann Rimes (country) and Nelly (rap).

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL — Waves Audio is seeing leading cutting-edge live engineers turn to WavesLive tools, including Peter Keppler, an in-demand front-of-house, broadcast and post-production mixing engineer (David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, Rufus Wainwright, David Byrne/St. Vincent, Katy Perry). On David Byrne and St. Vincent’s 2012 tour, Keppler used a WavesLive SoundGrid system with a DiGiCo SD10 console, and he plans on using a similar rig on their 2013 tour. On tour with Katy Perry in 2014, he will use a SoundGrid system with DiGiCo SD7.

QUEBEC, Canada — The Grand Théâtre de Québec’s head of sound, Robert Charbonneau, with an assist by Robert Caux, worked with d&b regional manager Francois Corbin over a two-year period on an upgrade for the arts complex’s main venue, the 1,875-seat Salle Louis Fréchette. They opted for d&b audiotechnik’s J-Series for the main PA and T-Series elements for fills.
