New Orleans’ Civic Theatre Returns to Duty with L-Acoustics Gear

NEW ORLEANS — After an extensive nine-month, $10.5M renovation project, the Civic Theatre, the oldest surviving theatre building in New Orleans, has officially reopened its doors after sitting dormant for more than three decades. To bring the 107-year-old, 15,000-square-foot performance venue up to today’s production standards, Solomon Group, a new L-Acoustics Certified Provider for install and rental markets, specified and integrated a KIVA-KILO loudspeaker system into the space.

Yosemite Fire Cancels Strawberry Music Festival

CAMP MATHER, CA — The wildlands fire that charred 180,000 acres including parts of Yosemite National Park also forced the cancellation of the Strawberry Music Festival that had been set for Aug. 29-Sept. 2. Now in its 32nd year, the Strawberry event, which focuses on acoustic genres including Americana, bluegrass, blues, folk, swing, rock, Cajun, Celtic and gospel, normally takes place twice each year, over Memorial and Labor Day weekends.

Old Dominion University Arena Upgrades with QSC Gear

NORFOLK, VA — The multi-purpose Ted Constant Convocation Center at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, colloquially known as “The Ted,” has undergone  a comprehensive upgrade with an end-to-end installed sound system from QSC for its tenth anniversary. The audio system overhaul at the arena, which seats 8,639 for basketball games, comprised of two separate QSC WideLine-8 line array systems as well as AcousticDesign Surface Mount and Ceiling Mount loudspeakers powered by PowerLight 3 and CX Series amplifiers, with a Q-Sys Core 500i  handling all signal distribution and system processing.
