LOS ANGELES, CA – When the Port of Los Angeles began construction on the new, expanded Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX three years ago, there was an unspoken understanding that the new structure would have to be an architectural tour-de-force, and a befitting ‘first impression’ for this iconic international city. In order to get the ‘first impression’ experience, VSA’s design team created a sophisticated system based around ICONYK digitally steerable arrays from Renkus-Heinz.

With the goal to attract new clients to Goldcrest Post, Mix Theatre Q has installed a Dolby-certified Meyer Sound cinema monitoring system.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Jane’s Addiction FOH engineer Jamie Rephann picked two new Telefunken microphones for the triumphant national tour of the band that launched the perennial alternative Lollapalooza rock festival.  He chose the new M82 and the M81-SH mics for drummer Stephen Perkins’ drum kit.

NORTHRIDGE, CA – Drawing approximately 600,000 fans over seven days, Rock in Rio was once again a rousing success, taking place at the City of Rock, a specially built venue on the site where the Olympic Village will be located for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Gabisom Audio Equipment, a longtime Harman JBL customer, deployed JBL VTX line arrays powered by Crown I-Tech HD amplifiers for this year’s festival, marking the first time it has used VTX and I-Tech HD at the Rock in Rio festival.

LONGMONT, CO – Mick “Big Mick” Hughes, front-of-house sound engineer for the heavy metal band Metallica, is using DPA Microphones’ d:vote 4099 Instrument Microphones for drummer Lars Ulrich’s cymbals and toms during the band’s live performances. The mics were also used to capture sound for the 3D film, Metallica Through the Never, which premiered worldwide Oct. 4.

ONTARIO, CANADA  – Located in Kingstree, South Carolina, the Williamsburg County Courthouse has undergone a number of renovations since the first cornerstone was laid almost 200 years ago. County officials hired Spectrum Sound, from nearby Summerville, to design and install the new system.  Shortly thereafter  Joe Bennett, owner of Spectrum Sound, specified a system built around Tannoy VLS loudspeakers.

Costa Mesa, CA — QSC Audio Products, LLC., is pleased to announce that online training for the Q-Sys networked audio platform is now available in Spanish. Presented by native speaking QSC employees Hernan Rame and Ruben Szachniewicz, the Spanish language Q-Sys training consists of nine non-linear modules that are delivered in entertaining, five-minute video segments. Participants who successfully complete the Q-Sys training can also earn 2.5 Infocomm RU credits towards CTS credential renewal.
