Broadway’s “Glass Menagerie” Supported by Masque Sound

NEW YORK — Masque Sound provided a custom audio equipment package for the latest production of Tennessee Williams’ masterpiece, The Glass Menagerie. The production is currently playing on Broadway at the Booth Theatre. It officially opens on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, and its 17-week run is slated to conclude on Jan.  5, 2014.

Martin Audio to Demo MLA Compact in NYC, DC

NEW YORK and WASHINGTON, DC –– Martin Audio will be demonstrating its MLA Compact loudspeaker system in New York Oct. 21-22 and in Washington, DC on Oct. 24. MERIDIAN, MS – On April 28, 2013, the Meridian Symphony Chorus and Orchestra recorded the Brahms’ Requiem at Highland Baptist Church in Meridian, MS. This church was chosen for its’ outstanding acoustics. The entire performance was recorded using all Earthworks High Definition Microphones as follows: 4 FW730 Flexwands on choir, 2 QTC40s on the orchestra, 1 SR30 for solo mic, 1 SR30 for room ambience, and 1 PM40 PianoMic on piano.

Yamaha AFC System Installed at SUNY Buffalo

BUFFALO, NY — For Ciminelli Recital Hall, a 200-seat performance space within Rockwell Hall at the State University of New York (SUNY) in Buffalo, AVL Design, AV Solutions, Boynton Pro Audio, Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems and engineers from Yamaha Japan all had a hand in the design and/or installation of a new sound system that centers on a Yamaha AFC (Active Field Control) system. The recital hall is optimized for small ensemble and solo performances; SUNY Buffalo’s Rockwell Hall also houses an 850 seat performing arts center for larger-scale productions.

Mumford & Sons Tours Resume with Solotech-Provided L-Acoustics System

ATLANTA – Mumford & Sons had to cancel some shows in June as bass player Ted Dwane underwent, and recovered from, emergency surgery to deal with a blood clot near his brain. The operation was a success, and the band, which has enjoyed a meteoric rise since the 2009 release of Sigh No More, was able to complete its recent “Full English” tour, in support of the band’s recent album, Babel. Solotech provided an L-Acoustics system for the tour.

LAS VEGAS — Micky Dolenz of Monkees fame will be hosting the 2013 Parnelli Awards in Las Vegas on November 23, executive producer Terry Lowe announced. “We are thrilled to have this consummate entertainer hosting our 13th annual award show,” said Lowe, also publisher of FRONT of HOUSE and PLSN magazines. “His long career as a top performer and his great sense of humor will make for a memorable night.  We’re going to have a lot of fun.”

2013 Parnelli Award, “IT” Award Nominations Continue, Tickets Now Available!

LAS VEGAS — Nominations are pouring in for both the 2013 Parnelli Awards and Indispensable Technology (“IT”) Awards. The nomination forms for both awards categories will be open through late September. If you haven’t done so already, now’s the time to choose the people, companies and products that will appear on the final 2013 Parnelli ballot. That ballot will be posted online for voting throughout the month of October. Be sure to also reserve your spot (or table) at this year’s event, set for Nov. 23, 2013. Colorado Concerts Canceled Amid Heavy Rain, Flooding

DENVER — With communities along Colorado’s Front Range pounded by more than half their usual annual rainfall within the span of a few days in mid-September, resulting floods and rock slides created widespread damage to the region’s mountain infrastructure, knocking out power, backing up sewers and washing out many of the roadways that wind their way alongside normally-dry riverbanks. Numerous concerts had to be canceled or postponed as a result.
