INDIANAPOLIS – The three-day National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC), held once every two years, returned to Lucas Oil Stadium here in 2013, where it was also held in 2011. For the event, held Nov. 21-23, CTS Audio provided a Harman Professional audio system that included JBL VTX line arrays and Crown I-Tech HD amplifiers. NCYC will return to Lucas Oil Stadium in 2015.

TORONTO – Red Bull staged the finals for its Thre3Style international DJ competition here in early November. Performing within different venues from Nov. 4-9, the audio reinforcement system needed to combine optimum sound quality with a compact, potable form factor. Nimble Audio Group provided a KR402 system to use as a side fill and two KF12 coaxial speakers used as monitors.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – William Kentridge, known for an artistic scope that extends from drawings and prints to operas and charcoal drawn animations, also incorporates artistic audio elements. For his installation, “The Refusal of Time,” which appeared as part of the dOCUMENTA (13) exhibition in Kassel, Germany in 2012, Kentridge combined sculpture with digital video and multi-layered soundscapes. The installation incorporated PreSonus’ AudioBox 1818VSL as the central audio hub. “The Refusal of Time” has since appeared at numerous museums worldwide, including Rome, Paris, and Eindhoven. New installations are scheduled in Germany, Japan, Australia, and the U.S.

ESCONDIDO, CA – Solid State Logic is continuing to add to its U.S. reseller network for SSL Live consoles with the appointment of professional touring and contracting company Sound Image. Headquartered here, Sound Image also has offices in Arizona and Tennessee, and has been providing sound reinforcement services to the industry’s biggest rock, country and pop acts for more than 40 years.

PROVIDENCE, RI – The 13,000-capacity Dunkin’ Donuts Center, home to the American Hockey League’s Providence Bruins and Providence College Men’s Basketball, also hosts corporate events, trade shows, commencements and concerts. Extensively remodeled in 2008, the venue was recently upgraded further with loudspeakers, power amplifiers and digital routing systems from Electro-Voice.

HUME, CA – Whether the staff at Hume Lake Christian Camp are performing services at home or on the road, one thing is certain, they will be using DPA Microphones’ d:fine Miniature Headset Microphones. Ultimate Sound and Light, also based here, updated the previous system, which had included D.A.S. Aero 12A line arrays, with D.A.S. Audio Aero 40A line arrays.

TORONTO – Located at the University of Toronto, Hart House is one of the largest and busiest event spaces in Canada, hosting a variety of conferences, concerts, corporate and social events. To accommodate the 7,000 annual event bookings, AV Manager Ira Cohen recently designed a new audio installation for the Hart House’s Great Hall (the signature space at the venue). It features a Soundcraft Si Expression 1 console from Harman.
