Johnson Audio Works Credits Danley Gear for Compact Size, Power

COMER, GA — Johnson Audio Works’ Bill Johnson has surprised clients by covering events drawing as many as 1,500 people with gear that might not look capable of doing the job — namely, a pair of but efficient Danley SM-80 full-range loudspeakers. Those concerns tend to fade away at sound check, however. Johnson, who is based here, also uses Danley TH-118 subwoofers for low end reinforcement.

Minnesota Church Upgrade Includes Allen & Heath GLD-80 Console

ANOKA, MN — As part of a broader renovation for the sanctuary at Zion Lutheran Church here, Mark Braaten, AV Coordinator, worked with AV design/build contractor Jeff Geisler of EMI Audio. They chose an Allen & Heath GLD-80 mixing console to meet the project’s needs. The GLD-80’s MMO card provided a variety of formats of multi-channel digital output. The setup also includes an AR2412 Mix Rack and two GLD AR84 expanders.

LAVAL, Quebec — Le Diplomate Audiovisual is hosting its first two-day Open Door (Porte Ouverte le Diplomate, or POD) event at Le Diplomate Audio Visual, 5588 Blvd Rossignols in Laval, Quebec (north of Montreal) on May 13-14. Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc. (YCAS) is the main sponsor of the event. More than two dozen other exhibitors are expected to attend. The event, which is free but requires registration, will also feature guest presenters, product demonstrations and conference discussions.

NEW YORK — For the Skylark Lounge, which offers visitors views of the Hudson River, Empire State Building and Midtown Manhattan from 30 floors up, Advanced Audio Technology of New York (AATNY) provided a sound system that includes Martin Audio components along with a custom-made DJ booth. The Martin Audio gear includes 14 AQ28, eight 2 x15 sub-bass enclosures, BSS signal processing and Tactical Audio amplification.

NASHVILLE — Accompanying Danish rock band Volbeat on a current U.S. tour are Trivium, an Orlando, FL-based heavy metal band, and Digital Summer, a rock band from Phoenix. Trivium’s monitor engineer, Mike Babcock (pictured left, with tour manager Joey Brueckmann, right) chose the new Yamaha QL5 Digital Audio Console for monitor mixing. Clair is providing most of the gear for the tour; the band owns JH-Audio IEMs and Sennheiser transmitters.

TACOMA, WA — Audio Video Electronics specified Danley synergy horn loudspeakers and DBH subwoofers to upgrade the sound within the 750-seat sanctuary at Fellowship Bible Church here. Three Danley SH-50s comprise a center cluster with a pair of Danley SM-60s providing side fill. A pair of Danley DBH-218 subwoofers generates ample deep bass.
