LAS VEGAS — For her first Las Vegas residency, “All I Have,” Jennifer Lopez used Shure’s KSM8 Dualdyne cardioid dynamic vocal microphone with Shure’s Axient wireless system. The first leg of the 2016 residency, at Planet Hollywood’s AXIS Theater, included 10 performances that ran Jan. 20-Feb. 9. The next legs run from May 22-June 12, July 20-Aug. 13 and Dec. 9-17. The audio team supporting J-Lo’s shows also used a Shure Axient AXT610 ShowLink access point to enable the system’s frequency diversity capability with full remote transmitter control to guard against interference and dropouts.

KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE – Recently, Pellissippi State Community College further enhanced its technical and teaching capabilities when it acquired and installed a DiGiCo S21 digital console at the school’s Bagwell Center for Media and Art. There, the S21 is the pinnacle of several audio recording, mixing, editing and production courses designed to provide the students with a well-rounded and extensive grounding in professional audio for applications including sound for picture, post-production, broadcast and live sound.

DICKSON, TENNESSEE – Bethany Retreat House’s modest campus is now complete with the construction of a dedicated 150 seat chapel. Audio-video integration firm Southeastern Sound Inc. (Nashville) designed and installed a robust, high-fidelity sound reinforcement system using Ashly Audio modular Protea processing, multi-channel amplification, and simple fader-style user control that is easy for anyone to operate with confidence.

SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco Opera (SF Opera) is the first opera company to rely upon Constellation. Located in the newly renovated Diane B. Wilsey Center for Opera, the 299-seat Atrium Theater is designed for multiple configurations, providing both performer and audience members with a very personal approach to opera. Constellation’s unique ability to shape acoustics on demand allows SF Opera to expand from traditional theatre-style seating to cabaret settings with café tables and in-the-round performances, or even edgier configurations.

GOLDEN, CO – Colorado School of Mines celebrated the opening of its new, 5300-seat “Marv Kay” stadium with meeting and event rooms, a large press box and VIP suites, dedicated sports medicine and strength training spaces and a new sound system with Community R SERIES loudspeakers. Tom Falgien of consulting firm WJHW designed the stadium’s new sound system. Falgien chose a point-source system design using three Community R6-51 loudspeakers located inside of the scoreboard at the end of the field.

MIAMI— HARMAN Professional Solutions announced its participation in Miami Music Week 2016 with a full-scale display featuring JBLsound, Crownamplification, Martinlighting and Soundcraft digital mixing during a week-long event. Bradley Drummond, Nightlife Solutions Manager, and Tony Perez Manager of Cruise Lines & Nightlife at HARMAN Professional Solutions designed the system for Miami Music Week, in collaboration with Icon Hospitality.

AUSTIN, TX – Flute and saxophone player Donny Silverman was having trouble clearly hearing himself and, hence, difficulty articulating musical phrasing in his 10 piece Reggae group. The Countryman ISOMAX 2 Instrument Microphone solved the problem.

Martin Audio has started to tease the launch of its widely anticipated CDD-LIVE! Series that will be fully announced and showcased at this year’s Prolight+Sound in Messe Frankfurt. Details of the series are being kept under wraps, but Martin Audio has released a teaser print image and an accompanying teaser video for the new product launch under the banner of “The Sound of Things to Come”.

The company provided six UV-1G base stations along with 30 RAD packs to ensure production went off without a hitch.

ALABAMA, USA – The Church At Brook Hills has recently invested in an audio upgrade through the full-service production and integration company Morris Light and Sound, installing two Solid State Logic L300 digital live consoles at front of house and monitors. Landon Robertson, Production Manager and FOH Engineer for the 2000 seat Worship Room uses volunteers to run monitors and finds the SSL’s “ease-of-use” crucial.
