BROWNFIELD, ME – The Stone Mountain Arts Center turned to Klondike Sound to design a new sound system supporting their eclectic roster of artists. The audio challenges included the center’s highly reflective wooden surfaces. Fulcrum speakers were selected to solve their sound problems and blend in with the venue’s rustic timber frame architecture.

BOTHELL, WA — The Alliance of IP Media Solutions (AIMS) welcomes four new member companies: Calrec, Ericsson, Rohde & Schwarz, and Xilinx. There are now more than 50 companies in AIMS that are supporting the broadcast and media industry move to IP standardization.

HOUSTON – Houston band The Guzzlers have relied on the Bose L1 Portable Systems for the past decade to help them through their busy booking schedule – sometimes two gigs in one day in different cities. Guzzlers lead guitarist Harriss Lauderdale states, “If we hadn’t gotten these L1’s back in the day, we probably would have quit playing music years ago.”

NEW YORK —Clearwing Productions deployed KS28 subwoofers and LA12X amplified controllers for multiple stages at the big annual Electric Zoo Festival EDM festival. The eighth annual Electric Zoo Festival attracted close to 83,000 EDM fans over three days to Randall’s Island Park in New York City. Held Labor Day weekend (Sept. 2-4), the lineup included Tiësto, Hardwell, The Chainsmokers, Bassnectar, Porter Robinson, Steve Aoki and many others.

INDIANAPOLIS – In January, Force Technology Solutions was brought in to handle the sound installation at Common Ground Christian Church in Indianapolis. The team designed and deployed a WorxAudio TrueLine X3i-P all-in-one compact line array system for the high energy worship services. Based upon the favorable response at this location, church leaders expect to add new systems at some of the church’s other locations in the future.

LOS ANGELES – For Nickelback’s drummer/vocalist Daniel Adair, pain caused by twisting to reach microphones while positioned at the drum kit were forcing him to go to a headset mic. But a previous manufacturer’s headset mic was clunky and caused feedback. Asking management and engineers to recommend the best mic for a drummer, many of them answered DPA’s d:fine 88 Directional Headset Microphone.

SEATTLE – The Mackie Reach professional PA system has proven to be a perfect enabler for Artist Home, a group which creates impromptu musical events or planned gatherings in the Pacific Northwest. “With the Reach, we have a high-quality, complete sound system that we can quickly and easily load in, set up, use and load out,” says Artist Home’s Kevin Sur. “The artists love it, and audiences enjoy the music and scenery without looking at stacks of equipment. Reach is perfect for a lot of what we do.”

WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA – SPL Systems has recently overhauled its amplifier inventory, adding in Powersoft K and X Series amps. Company owner Bill Forbes says, “I’ve been putting these amps through their paces this summer as far as heat and general environmental nastiness and they don’t let up. With all the outdoor fairs we’re in the dirt, the dust, the rain, and the humidity, pretty torturous conditions for an amplifier, and these things are just loving it.”

DODGE CITY, KS – Memorial Stadium needed an upgrade. The desire for a more modern full-range frequency response, with smooth, articulated highs and jaw-dropping, thundering bass, drove the decision to pursue options to replace the old system which was tailored primarily for speech. McClelland Sound looked to Danley Sound Labs for a solution.

TORONTO – When considering a new sound reinforcement system for BMO Field in Toronto, Westbury National and AV distributor SFM looked to the Fulcrum Acoustic line for the AH Series of compact, two-way, full-range loudspeakers as a viable solution. “Integrated DSP and amplification was a primary goal on this project,” says Andrew Foord of Westbury National.

ESCONDIDO, CA – A DiGiCo SD5 at the FOH and an SD10 for monitors allow engineers Jon Lemon and Adam Jackson all the flexibility they need for mixing Sia’s multimedia show on tour. The SD5 is upgraded with DiGiCo’s new Stealth Core 2. Lemon says the upgrade is of considerable help on this production, with its full complement of dynamic EQ, multi-band compressors, DiGiTuBe emulators and expanded MADI connectivity.
