Behind the Scenes Counseling to Aid Industry Depression, Addiction

NEW YORK – The Behind the Scenes organization has created the BTS Counseling Fund to help industry professionals in fighting depression and addiction. After an initial period of fundraising, Behind the Scenes will begin accepting applications for grants from the fund. Funds will also be available to individuals entering an in-patient or intensive out-patient recovery program or those experiencing an emergency in-patient mental health event.

Sennheiser to Present Sound Experiences at Miami’s Art Basel

MIAMI BEACH, FL – Art Basel, taking place Dec. 1-4 in Miami Beach, will feature a sound clash performance between German sound artist Nik Nowak and Bass Mekanik. Nowak is one of the sound artists collaborating with Sennheiser through its Future Audio Artists Program to create compelling new projects that fuse art and audio. A number of talks, demos and displays accompany the Art Basel event.

Akron Children’s Hospital Enhances Audio System with Audio-Technica Gear

TALLMADGE, OH — Attero Tech used Audio-Technica components as part of an audio system upgrade at the Akron Children’s Hospital Family Child Learning Center (FCLC). The new setup in the observation rooms makes it easy for parents, staff and students to choose any area to listen to while observing through the one-way glass. The FCLC had tried over the years to use security-based microphones and lower-quality headphones, which did not provide good fidelity, and management wanted a system that was more flexible and provided better audio quality.

Musiq Soulchild Gets New Sound with dLive

ATLANTA – Atlanta-based Digital World Live is providing R&B artist Musiq Soulchild’s tour with Allen & Heath products: specifically, dLive S7000 Surface and DM48 MixRack for FOH and a dLive S5000 Surface with DM64 MixRack for monitors. Musiq was looking for a “new sound” and specifically didn’t want the “hiss” noise that he used to get with other gear.

Lexington, KY’s Rupp Arena Gets Big Sound from L-Acoustics K2 System

LEXINGTON, KY — “Big Bertha,” a massive cluster-speaker system used for the past 40 years at Rupp Arena, home court to the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball team, recently retired. The arena now has the largest L-Acoustics K2 sound system ever used as a fixed installation. It also brings tour-level audio that lets the venue accommodate more events, such as concerts, using its own sound. Cincinnatti’s Loud & Clear handled the installation.

Sennheiser Delivers at 50th CMA Awards

NASHVILLE – Sennheiser recently powered the cross-genre collaboration with Beyoncé and Dixie Chicks during the 50th CMA Awards. The occasion marked Beyoncé’s first appearance on the CMA Award stage, featuring audio from Sennheiser’s flagship Digital 9000 wireless system. Other artists using Sennheiser products during the evening included Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, The Oak Ridge Boys and Reba McEntire.

MIAMI – A four panel per side Tectonic Audio Labs PL-12 system is the house loudspeaker choice for this year’s flagship PBS Fall Arts concert special; “UNITY – Latin Tribute to Michael Jackson” at Miami’s historic Olympia Theater. “In order to cover a 1,200 seat theater with a very high balcony – while still maintaining sightlines for cameras ─ we decided to place four full-panel PL-12s per side”, explains Tectonic system engineer Chris Wilson.
