NORTHRIDGE, CA– Scorpions is a hard rock band from Hanover, Germany that helped to define the musical genre. The venerable group is perhaps best known for their 1980s rock anthem, "Rock You Like a Hurricane." Scorpions has been touring Europe throughout 2006 in support of a recently-released live concert DVD (One Night in Vienna). The band's July 23 outdoor show at Tsirium Stadium in Limassol, Cyprus was handled by rental firm MKG Touring Technologies, with the company's JBL VerTec VT4888 mid-size line array system.

BURNSVILLE, MN–The Jazz on the Danube festival (Jazz an der Donau), which ran from July 13–16, offered another excellent, highlight-filled program this year. Ingo Haasch and his team were responsible for sound reinforcement, and relied on a combination of compact Electro-Voice (EV) line array systems, Dynacord PowerH power amplifiers and EV NetMax N8000 signal processors, which was used for the first time at a major event.

ALBERTSLUNE, DENMARK–The new LoungeSub from Cornered combines sound reinforcement with extra seating area. Designed as a pouffe, the LoungeSub is as much a piece of furniture as it is a subwoofer and therefore suited for venues in which the sub cannot be hidden.

CHESPEAKE, VA–Craft-Work Sound, Inc, of Chesapeake, Va, recently deployed their EV XLC line array rig for the 24th Annual Norfolk Jazz Festival, held in Town Point Park, Norfolk, VA, on August 4-6. This installment of the area's largest and longest-running Jazz fest included headline performances from the Guitar and Saxes Tour (featuring Gerald Albright, Richard Elliot, Jeff Golub and Peter White) and Brian Culbertson.

MCKEES ROCKS, PA–Steve Raslevich of Northern Sound and Light has begun a campaign to raise money to benefit Jim Sidney and Bonnie Patterson of Gourmet PA Systems in their fight against Bonnie's breast cancer. Bonnie, 46 years old, was diagnosed with breast cancer in June of this year. Even with medical insurance, the co-pays and non-covered medical costs have already exceeded $20,000.00.

VALENCIA, SPAIN–This year's twelfth edition the "La Mar de Músicas" festival devoted special attention to South Africa. Cinema, art and literature have accompanied the 40 concerts that took place at Spain's southern city of Cartagena from June 30 to July 22. The concerts featured internationally relevant names from the guest country as well as stars and young artists from other continents. Once more, as in previous years, D.A.S. speakers and sound systems were on the stages, provided by "Telemag de Lorca, S.L.," in charge of providing sound reinforcement facilities for the major stages of the event.
