FRANKFURT, Germany — The Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main’s current renovation and expansion plan on the Westend Campus site will take the total capacity of the campus from 10,000 students currently to around 45,000 by 2014, and BFE Studio und Medien Systeme, a Mainz-based integration company, specified Renkus-Heinz Iconyx IC16 Digitally Steerable Arrays for three new buildings on campus.

VIENNA, Austria —Vienna’s Grosser Musikvereinssaal, also known as the Goldene Saal (Golden Hall), uses an assortment of AKG microphones for Vienna’s Philharmonic Orchestra, including AKG C 12 VRs, K 702s and a WMS 400 wireless system. The mics are also now used for the annual New Year’s Day Concert, which has been telecast each year since 1959, and for numerous lectures and public readings.

PARIS — BS Technology used a Riedel RockNet digital audio network for this year’s July 14 Bastille Day celebration. Apex, Riedel Communications’ partner in France, Belgium and Luxembourg, delivered the RockNet gear.

The event was held at Avenida Maria Cristina, and Focus relied on EAW for loudspeakers and processors for the night’s main stage concert, which featured live musical artists and DJs.

SOUTHWOLD, U.K. — Adlib Audio supplied sound equipment and crew to the Latitude Festival for the fourth year running, this year taking over two new stages — the Uncut second stage and the Sunrise Arena, in addition to the Lake Stage, the Film & Music Arena and the Cabaret Tent which also had a “roving” sound system. The Adlib team of 14 was crew-chiefed by Richy Nicholson.

BRUNEI — The Jerudong Park Amphitheatre, part of a major amusement attraction in Brunei, a small nation that shares the island of Borneo with Malaysia and Indonesia, has acquired an Allen & Heath digital iLive system including an iDR10 MixRack and iLive-176 Control Surface.

SURREY, U.K. —Delta Sound announced plans to acquire Sound By Design. Both companies will operate from Delta’s current HQ near Hampton Court in Surrey, with Oct. 1 set as the target date for SBD’s relocation.

DRESDEN, Germany — A Studer Vista 8 is at the heart of a new concert hall at Dresdner Hochschule für Musik (Dresden University of Music) in Germany, named after the 19th century composer, Carl Maria von Weber. More than 600 people from all over the world study music at the university.

DUBAI, UAE — SLS Productions provided a JBL VerTec line array system for a Deep Purple concert that capped the fourth annual Dubai Bike Week. Event promoters Live Nation and MECOM contracted SLS Productions to provide the sound, lighting and video systems for the three-day festival, which drew more than 25,000 visitors.
