SHEFFIELD, U.K. — Green Day’s ongoing world tour in support of its latest album, 21st Century Breakdown, has its monitors mixed on a Studer Vista 5 SR digital mixing console, the choice of monitor mixer Beau Alexander, who has worked with the band since 2004.

STUTTGART, Germany — The largest concerts for the 11-day BW-Bank Jazzopen Stuttgart 2009 festival moved indoors to the new Stuttgart fairgrounds this year, providing some 28,000 visitors and performers a more stable audio environment. Meyer Sound also provided sound reinforcement for the first time.

ALBANS, U.K. — The Friendly Fires recently turned the austere civic center of Alban Arena into a party venue with their homecoming show.  FOH sound engineer Richard “Bars” Barling and monitor engineer Colm “Meado” Meade used Soundcraft Vi6s  supplied by SSE Audio Group, which obtained the gear from Harman’s U.K. distributor, Sound Technology Ltd.

SCUNTHORPE, U.K. — Black Magic Audio (BMA) recently added an Allen & Heath iLive-T digital mixing system to its inventory, and quickly put it to use at the Alternative Stage at this year’s Leeds Festival. Purchased through LMC, the system includes the iDR-32 MixRack and iLive-T80 Control Surface.

LONDON — Beyoncé’s “I Am…” world tour includes Sennheiser and Neumann wired and wireless mics, with the artist and The Mamas, her trio of backup singers, all using Sennheiser’s SKM 5200 handheld mics with MD 5325 capsules.

KOSTRZYN, Poland — The Woodstock Trainstop 2009, the 15th such festival to be held in Poland, marked 40 years since the original Woodstock took place with support from Fotis Sound. The free concert, held on the Poland/Germany border, drew a crowd of 420,000. The main stage was equipped with Midas gear, with both analog and digital consoles provided.

BERGAMO, Italy — The Trescore music festival, one Italy’s largest, drew tens of thousands to hear Afterhours, J-Ax, Calibro 35, Le Luci Della Centrale Elettrica, Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti and Ministri. Airone S.r.l. provided RCF TT+ Series as the main PA system, which included TTL33-A line arrays, TTS28-A subwoofers and TT25-SMA stage monitors.

FLORENCE, Italy — Located within a deconsecrated 18th century church, the $4.5 million Cavalli Club, owned by Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli, was equipped with an Alcons audio system.
