LAGOS, Nigeria – Meyer Sound gear helped organizers for "The Experience," a non-denominational gospel music concert, bring the message and the music to some 450,000 jammed into the Tafawa Balewa Square and an adjacent cricket field.

HANOVER, Germany – With a lifespan of up to 25 years, scorpions have more sting and staying power than most other insects. The hard rock and heavy metal band that shares their name is at least as durable: it first rose to fame in the mid-1970s, and was first formed in 1965. Set to tour once more in 2010 to support their forthcoming album, Get Your Sting and Blackout, the band will once again rely on Sennheiser gear.

VENDOME, France – The Minotaure performance arts complex recently adopted a new Outline sound reinforcement system, including 12 Mini-COM.P.A.S.S. speakers and two SubTech 218 SP subwoofers, controlled by an Outline Genius 26 unit.

JOHANNESBURG – Since South African audio specialists Sound Stylists invested in their second DiGiCo D5 Live digital mixing console, bought in for the R Kelly Concerts earlier this year, the company has found both an increasing acceptance and demand for the console from the local market. A recent case in point for Sound Stylists was when they provided full audio support at the annual Joburg Day at Riversands Farms.

DOHA, Qatar – In its inaugural year, the Doha Tribeca Film Festival (DTFF) made its mark with a large screening venue and Dolby 5.1 surround sound system – one of the largest ever assembled.

SOPRON, Hungary – The Petofi Theater, located in this city only 60 km from Vienna, was ready for a new sound system. IFK, HK Audio's Hungarian distributor, which happens to be located in the same town, won the bid with a proposed HK Audio CADIS system.

OSLO – For the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize Concert at the Oslo Spektrum, Norwegian audio company AVAB-CAC deployed two Midas XL8 live performance systems and three PRO6 live audio systems for the live show and broadcast, making extensive use of AES50 networking.

LONDON – The new self-powered Meyer Sound UP-4XP loudspeaker recently made its debut at the Royal Albert Hall's renovated Elgar Room. The UP-4XP is noted for combining the advantages of a remote DC power supply and the acoustic power output of a three-way self-powered system.

HITACHINAKA, Japan – The Rock in Japan concert, produced by Rockin' On publisher Keiichi Shibuya, was held for the 10th year in 2009. More than 165,000 attendees came to Hitachi Beach Park to hear performances by some 150 Japanese artists, including Eikichi Yazawa, Unicorn, Ulfuls and Perfume.

HANOVER, Germany – Not all artists and touring support crews have to worry about how a vocalist sounds while hanging upside down on a trapeze. But that was the problem facing the audio crew supporting Pink's Funhouse tour.

GLASGOW, U.K. – Ian Bond of IPB Audio, owner of one of the first Midas PRO6 live audio systems to roll off the production line, has been using it on a 10-week European tour with five-piece progressive rock band Porcupine Tree. Bond has a long association with the band, having been their FOH engineer for 10 years.
