Matthew Manasse Uses Soundcraft Vi1 for Dire Straits

LONDON — When members of Dire Straits got back together for a one-off charity event at the Albert Hall, sound engineer Matthew Manasse was asked to look after the front of house mix. Manasse, who previously worked with keyboard player Alan Clark and the band’s original engineer, Robert Collins, also supported the band when it subsequently toured Europe, conducting mixing duties on a Soundcraft Vi1.

Cosmic Electronics Revamps Sound System at Jalouse with RCF Gear

LONDON — Moruf Yoozooph and Freddie Achom, owners of the three-year-old Jalouse membership nightclub on London’s West End, contracted with Cosmic Electronics to revamp the sound system and re-position the DJ console. Cosmic Electronics MD, Keith Damon, who managed the project, opted for a setup that included RCF gear. Two pairs of C5215Ws now work together with the club’s existing subwoofers, surrounding club patrons with an immersive experience.

Florence and the Machine’s Ali Pali Gigs Supported by Midas PRO2, XL8 Consoles

LONDON — Florence and the Machine’s current European dates to promote her Ceremonials album were recently upsized for a three-night run at London’s Alexandra Palace, with the band joined by a 12-piece choir and 12-piece string section. A new Midas PRO2 live audio system supplemented monitor world for these gigs, joining the XL8 at FOH. Both were provided by Britannia Row Productions.

AED Rent, Harman Stage JBL VTX Demo in Belgium

WILLEBROEK, Belgium — On March 16, AV rental system provider AED Rent and Harman’s JBL Professional hosted the VTX System Listening Experience for more than 240 pro audio attendees at the AED Demohall at AED Rent’s global headquarters here. The event included a demonstration of JBL Professional’s new V25 line array loudspeaker in a left-right format, powered by Crown VRack amplification with V5 processing, and mixed on a Soundcraft Vi6 console.
