Gearhouse Invests in More L-Acoustics Stock

JOHANNESBURG — Gearhouse South Africa has recently reinvested in more L-Acoustics components to complete its existing inventory of KUDO, V-DOSC, dV-DOSC and ARCS. The new equipment includes 48 KARA, 12 ARCSII and 12 KUDO line source cabinets, eight SB28 and 24 SB18 subwoofers, and 22 LA-RAK touring racks installed with LA8 amplified controllers.

Alcons Features RR12, Other Gear at Prolight+Sound 2012

FRANKFURT, Germany  — Alcons Audio featured its new RR12 modular arrayable point-source system at Prolight+Sound 2012. The system consists of two-way elements with a 30º dispersion in the coupling plane and a 60º asymmetrical dispersion in the non-coupling plane. Featuring a high-output 12-inch driver in combination with a newly developed six inch pro-ribbon driver, RR12 can be used as horizontal or vertical array.

LONDON — The 2012 Queen’s Awards for Enterprise recognized 209 U.K. standouts in international trade, innovation and sustainable development, including several audio manufacturers. Among those honored: Allen & Heath, Focusrite Audio Engineering Ltd. and Orange Music Electronic Co. Ltd. (for international trade) and B&W Group Ltd., Element Six Ltd. and Turbosound Ltd. (for innovation). Turbosound was recognized for its Polyhorn and Dendritic innovations, incorporated into the gear in use at the Royal Albert Hall, pictured here.

Military Officer Killed in Jerusalem Staging Collapse, Four Arrested for Negligence

JERUSALEM — The staging structure for Israel’s annual Independence Day remembrance ceremonies at Mount Herzl this week fell during military rehearsals April 18, killing an IDF officer and injuring seven other military personnel. Four involved with the staging setup were arrested for negligence. The ceremonies will proceed at the site as scheduled, with recognition for victim, Second Lt. Hila Betzaleli, 20, who was laid to rest near the site shortly after the accident occurred.
