HELSINKI, Finland — Kristian Ekholm, a sound designer based here who specializes in contemporary performing arts and fringe theatre, purchased a Soundcraft Si Compact 16 live sound mixer from territory distributor Studiotec to take advantage of the digital mixing abilities within the small-footprint, travel-friendly desk.

ARMAGH, Northern Ireland — Market Place Theatre & Arts Centre here has become one of the first venues to install Allen & Heath’s new GLD digital mixer. The new setup, which replaced an analog desk, includes a GLD-80 mixer plus an AR84 I/O rack in the control room and an AR2412 rack down on the stage floor.

LONDON — The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert earlier this month included a large network of Midas consoles.  Britannia Row FOH engineer Josh Lloyd specified a setup including two Midas PRO9 and one Midas PRO2C units for FOH, with Midas XL8, PRO9 and PRO6 consoles for monitors. The system also included 14 Midas DL431 digital mic splitters to manage the 96 channels for the house band plus 96 additional orchestra channels.

LONDON — Nissan and London nightclub operator Ministry of Sound recently introduced the Juke Box, a new automotive design noted for an installed sound system engineered by Martin Audio that is capable of producing up to 150dB.

LONDON — The BBC will broadcast the London 2012 Olympic Games from the specially-built International Broadcast Centre (IBC) in the Olympic Park, using seven Harman Studer Vista and OnAir consoles and a Route 6000 network core.

SEOUL — Eidim Audio Visual, based in Buena Park, CA but with offices around the U.S. and also in Seoul, provided audio support for the 5,500-capacity, multi-level Kwang Mying Church here with Adamson gear. The main sanctuary setup included six Y10 enclosures, four SpekTrix 5 degree enclosures as under hang and two flown T21 Subs per side. Eidim also provided four SpekTrix enclosures for center fill due to the room’s extensive width and 10 CB1 cabinets as under-balcony fills and delays. On the stage, there are also 10 10MX monitors.

IPSWICH, U.K. — DHE Professional Ltd, based here, recently purchased three Allen & Heath GLD digital mixers to add to their rental stock inventory. The order included three GLD-80 mixers, with three AR2412 and three AR84 I/O expander units, and the new systems have already been put to work on a variety of events, including the recent Homelanz festival in London.

ANKARA, Turkey — Melomani recently installed D.A.S. Variant and Artec series systems within Turkey’s 250-square-meter press conference hall within the government’s Ministry of Transportation. The space, which seats more than 200, also contains new AV elements. The sound designers decided to implement a 5.1-type surround sound system, with the standard configuration of left, right and center channels, as well as the corresponding subwoofer and surround channels.

VENICE, Italy — The canals here are used by thousands of gondolas, launches, barges and water buses daily, so the constantly-changing tidal water levels are a concern — at high tide, the reduced headroom under bridges can require some vessels to take alternate routes. The city has adopted Community R-Series loudspeakers as part of its high-water warning setup.

LONDON — Adlib’s audio division again supplied a complete L-Acoustics sound system and crew to Production North for the 2012 Capital FM Summertime Ball staged at Wembley Stadium on June 9.

Since the beginning of their adventure, the Joassin brothers have invested in professional audio equipment in order to cater to the sound needs of live concerts and the most important Mardi Gras events in Haiti. They started with medium quality set-ups but year after year they built a reputation and earned great respect from their customers.

OXFORD, U.K. — B+H Sound recently installed 12 K-array KV50W and two KKS50W powered by two KA7 and one KA10 amplifiers for the Sheldonian Theatre here, which was built between 1664 and 1669 and recently restored.
