DURBAN, South Africa — Prosound provided a Midas PRO1 for the recent run of Beauty and the Beast performances at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre here. Megan Levy of DarkHorse Productions had never used a PRO1 before, but quickly found her way around the console, crediting the PRO1 for being “theatre-friendly” and also for its sound quality.

Nobel Peace Prize Concert Mixed on Midas Consoles

OSLO, Norway — For the annual Nobel Peace Prize Concert, held here last month, AVAB-CAC provided two Midas XL8s at FOH and four Midas PRO9s at monitors for Kylie Minogue, Jennifer Hudson, Seal, and the 55-piece Norwegian Radio Orchestra, which was conducted by Nick Davies. AVAB-CAC’s Asle Nilsen also specified Midas’ DL431 mic splitter and AES50 tie lines, and the PRO9s were used to create multiple stem mixes of the performance, which could then be accessed from the combined network by the other consoles.

Entec Sound Supplies d&b System for Skunk Anansie Tour

LONDON — Rental company Entec provided a d&b audiotechnik sound system for Skunk Anansie FOH engineer Paul Ramsay to support performances in the U.K. and Europe. The system, for 1,200- to 12,000-capacity venues, includes up to 16 J8, 16 V8 and eight J12 speakers along with 16 B2 and eight J-Infra subs and also four Q10s and four Q1s for infills and outfills, all powered by d&b D12 amps.

Sound Companies Specify EM Acoustics HALO Compact Arrays for London Venues

LONDON — EM Acoustics, which has followed up on the 2009 launch of the company’s HALO line array system with their HALO Compact line array system, announced Sound By Design’s use of the gear at London’s Royal Albert Hall in October followed by Stage Electric’s use of the compact arrays for the 750-seat Great Hall within the Queen’s Building, formerly known as the People’s Palace.

German Unity Celebration in China Heard via Sennheiser, K-array Gear

SHANGHAI, China — Expatriates from Germany marked Oct. 3, German Unity Day, with a celebration at the Hotel Intercontinental Expo here on Oct. 8. The German Consulate sponsored the event, which included a speech by consul general Wolfgang Roehr along with live music. Event sponsor Sennheiser and Real Live provided microphones and two K-array Redline series systems for the event.
