Light of Life Chapel in Korea Features Discreet K-array Solution

GAPYEONG, South Korea – The ‘Light of Life’ Chapel, made from more than 600 trunks of Russian red pine that a Korean businessman gathered over the course of 10 years, is an architectural wonder but an acoustic challenge, particularly when the installation requires that the audio gear be heard but not seen. Soundus, K-array’s Korean distributor, provided a system that includes four KP52 ultra slim wall mount speakers that were hidden within the beams, with three KAN200s  also wrapped around the shape of the buildings’ structure, in particular the cylinders extending from the roof.

Jazz Festival in Lugano, Switzerland Mixed by Aurus Console

LUGANO, Switzerland – Stagetec equipment supported TV broadcasts of Estival Jazz, a festival produced by Swiss broadcaster RSI, which tagets the Italian speaking portion of Switzerland. The outside broadcast vehicle with its integrated Aurus console was patched directly to Studio A of the RSI TV station in Comano, 10 kilometers away, via fiber optic cables. The signals from the musicians were routed to the Aurus sound control room in Studio A via this line, mixed there and routed back to the OB. From there the mix was integrated into the TV program. The festival took place July 10-12 at Lugano’s Piazza Riforma.

Paolo Nutini U.K. Gigs Mixed at Monitors with iLive Setup

LONDON – Fresh off the Franz Ferdinand tour, monitor engineer, Tom Howat took the same iLive modular set up of an iLive-112 Surface and iDR10 MixRack with additional PL10 remote controller on a short UK tour with Paolo Nutini. The tour began with BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend festival in Glasgow in late May and culminated in a performance at London’s Roundhouse on June 3.

Funktion-One for Roskilde’s Apollo Mission

ROSKILDE, Denmark – Seeking to minimize bass spread from the Apollo stage, organizers of the Roskilde Festival chose Funktion-One speakers. The system comprised 24 Funktion-One Resolution 5 Touring speakers, configured in left and right clusters of 12. The all-important bass reinforcement came from 12 Funktion-One F221 and eight F218 enclosures.

POZNAN, Poland — Gigant Sound Letus, based here, recently augmented its inventory of Outline loudspeakers with an order that included 48 GTO, 32 GTO C-12, 64 DBS 18-2 subwoofers plus 12 flying frames. The added gear enables the company to split its Outline inventory into eight identical subsidiary systems. Each of these include six GTO, four GTO C-12 and eight subwoofers — powerful enough to handle a range of events, but also easily transported by truck, set up and flown or ground-stacked as needed.

Nine Inch Nails 2014 European Tour Gets Adlib Support

LONDON – Adlib supplied an L-Acoustics K1 sound system and Systems Engineer Tony Szabo for the recent U.K. and European legs of Nine Inch Nails’ 2014 European tour. The sound system included a front hang of 14 K1 speakers with four KARA downs and an array of eight K1 SB subs flown L-R near the main hang, plus side hangs of 10 K1 and four KARA downs. On the floor were 18 SB28 subs with KARA fills on top. All speakers were driven by L-Acoustics LA8 amps and controlled using LA Network Manager.
