Norwegian Academy of Music Concert Halls Equipped with Soundcraft Vi3000, JBL VerTec Line Arrays, Other Harman Gear

OSLO, Norway — Norwegian distributor, LydRommet, has had a busy summer, designing and setting up an extensively upgraded light, audio and AV system at two concert halls used by the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. LydRommet provided Soundcraft Vi3000 digital mixing consoles and JBL VerTec line arrays from Harman for each performance space. The systems are powered by nine Crown I-Tech amplifiers and monitored and processed by JBL HiQnet Performance Manager software.

Edmonton Church Upgrades West Campus Sound System

EDMONTON, Canada — The Beulah Alliance Church recently upgraded its West Campus sanctuary sound system. The new system includes a Yamaha CL5 Digital Audio Console at front of house and a Yamaha CL3 used for broadcast recording, along with one RIO 3224-D input/output box, and three Rio 1608-D input/output boxes, complimenting the existing NEXO GEO S8 speaker system.

Katowice’s Palace of Youth Finds New Life with Harman Sound System

KATOWICE, Poland – Katowice’s Palace of Youth recently upgraded to a new sound system from Harman. The main sound system is based around a JBL VERTEC system and is comprised of hangs of eight JBL VERTEC VT4887ADP elements per side for the main PA, underpinned by three VT4881ADP subwoofers on each side. This is bolstered by three further VERTEC VT4887 loudspeakers as front fills, while for stage monitoring ESS Audio specified eight VP7212MDP enclosures. The entire front of house system is controlled and optimized via dbx DriveRack 4820 processors. There is also a Soundcraft Vi4 console, with a Soundcraft Vi1 in monitor world—the engineers in both locations are provided with JBL LSR2328P for their own reference monitoring. The venue’s microphones were alsoupgaded with an AKG DMS700 digital wireless system at the heart and AKG C451B and C414B XLII, as well as AKG K271 headphones.

K-Array Provides Sound for Arboreal Lightning Installation

LONDON – K-array loudspeakers helped transform a former locomotive shed into an interactive art space hosting Arboreal Lightning, a unique sound and lighting installation. The K-array system comprised a KR402 system mounted in a single line, with six KH15s mounted around the perimeter of the main space, plus two more overhead. Two KO70 subs were stacked beneath the stage.

Deutsche Welle Uses RTW TouchMonitor to Monitor Sound Levels

When broadcaster Deutsche Welle sought to make its programming compliant with the EBU-R128 loudness mandate, it turned to RTW’s TouchMonitor line of audio meters to make the transition. Engineers working on various broadcast shows use the RTW TM3 units in a combined setup with the existing RTW PortaMonitor, which is used for monitoring level, loudness, frequency response and phase of analog and digital signals systems, as well as the RTW TM7 units at the company’s dubbing suites. The TM9 units are being used with an installed radar option, for a more detailed look into the composition of the metering data.

UK Pro Audio Company Supplies PA for First Gig on an Iceberg

MILTON KEYNES, U.K. – Studiomaster, an audio production company based here, supplied a “berg suitable” PA for the world’s first ever gig on a floating iceberg. The stunt, titled the Jägermeister Ice Cold Gig, didn’t have much in the way of an audience, but the stage and locale were definitely unique. British metal band, The Defiled, performed in sub-zero temperatures atop of the floating berg for the occasion.
