In UAE, Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium Installs Electro-Voice System

ABU DHABI, UAE – For 25,000-capacity Hazza Bin Zayed stadium, JBK Controls International and Prosonic installed a new sound reinforcement system featuring Electro-Voice and Dynacord gear. The stadium is home to the Al Ain FC football club (soccer team) and features features nine lounges and restaurants, a medical center, and a media center, as well as further facilities to hold local, regional and global events.

LIVERPOOL, U.K. – Production specialist Adlib provided sound gear and crew for Enrique Iglesias’ latest tour of the U.K. and Europe, complementing Sound Image’s support for the multi-lingual artist.  An L-Acoustics K1 / KARA system was specified by Iglesias’ FOH engineer Brad Divens. It included 14 K1 speakers per side for the main arrays complete with four KARA downs, each supported by an array of six K1SB subs flown beside them.

AI Rentals Provides D.A.S. Audio Gear for Cayman Islands Pirates Week Festival

CAYMAN ISLANDS – AI Rentals supported the staged live music events associated with the 11-day Pirates Week Festival that ran from Nov. 6-16 this year with an arsenal of audio gear including speaker components acquired earlier this year from Spain-based D.A.S. Audio. The main stage PA system featured of two hangs of 8 Event 210A loudspeakers plus two more for infill (mounted on the subs). Those subs were 16 Event 218A enclosures positioned in a single line across the front of the stage and delayed to make a virtual arc. Outfills consisted of two additional Event 210A hangs. There was also a single delay stack comprised of four Event 210A enclosures. Sidefills and drumfill consisted of Action 118A bass enclosures with Action 15A systems. D.A.S. Action 12A enclosures served as stage monitors.

LONDON, UK – Orbital Sound supported freelance sound designer, Sebastian Frost’s setup for the launch of the Jaguar XE at Earls Court recently. The 90-minute production included a musical theatre-style show with a cast of performers, a a 30-piece orchestra and 17 new and vintage automobiles on a 53-by-30-meter stage. Frost made use of an Orbital-supplied TiMax SoundHub audio showcontrol delay-matrix to sweeten the sound for the 3,000 attending the event within the proscenium theater.

U.K.’s “Strictly Come Dancing” Relies on Studer Digital Consoles

BLACKPOOL, UK – When BBC’s flagship Saturday night Strictly Come Dancing entertainment show relocates once a year from Elstree Studios to the coruscating Blackpool Tower Ballroom, all the production infrastructure likewise heads north, with the OB recording trucks set up in a co-opted scanner park. With the hit show now in its 10th year, BBC Studios and Post Production’s Andy Tapley, and lead Sound Supervisor, Tony Revell, evolved an elegant workflow in Blackpool, mixing the show entirely on three HARMAN’s Studer digital consoles. For the first time on a Strictly OB, the topology was based on a conjoined Vista 8 and Vista 5, alongside a Vista 1, which handled the surround sound mix within Red TX’s reconfigured Red II 3D/7.1 OB truck. This also housed a dedicated grams area.
