Read More »A year ago in this space, we covered the topic of “compact” line arrays — referring to units where the woofers were nine inches in diameter or less. Of course, some of those entries, particularly three-way systems with dual 8-inch drivers, weighed more than 100 pounds, so the term “compact” had to be used in context to the larger format line arrays presented in the Buyers Guide in our May, 2012 issue. This time, we turned to units that are even smaller, having LF drivers less than seven inches in diameter and one entry even packing a pair of 3.5-inch woofers.

Based on the Dante Brooklyn module, the XDIP sends and receives 64 input channels and 64 output channels simultaneously, thus providing an interface between the IP world and the synchronously clocked NEXUS routing system. XDIP incorporates an AVB-enabled Gigabit Ethernet switch that offers four Ethernet ports for maximum flexibility, allowing a VLAN-based setup with redundant lines.

The QSC AEC process is easily deployed in Q-Sys Designer software as a simple, click-and-drag component. Because the Q-Sys AEC is integrated into the Q-Sys Core, users don’t need to pay extra to add AES capability to their systems in the form of add-on input cards.

The kit has two VTX-LZ laser units and a rechargeable power supply and its Class 3R green laser is approximately 20 times more visible than a red laser. The lasers attach to the VTX enclosure suspension frame and provide a visual reference to confirm the on-axis vertical site angle of the array while also providing an azimuth indication so relative horizontal pan angles can be matched for FOH left-right arrays.
