LOS ANGELES — The secret is finally out, as Roland unveiled its new flagship M-5000 digital console. If the M-5000 was simply an upgrade to Roland’s popular M-480 V-Mixer that would be one thing, but this new entry takes the concept much further and makes significant strides in console design. Key to the M-5000 is its new O.H.R.C.A. (Open, High-Resolution Configurable Architecture) platform. The implementation in the M-5000 architecture is not fixed into any predetermined structure and instead gives users the power to create a console structure to suit the needs of any specific application or venue from its 128 audio pathways.

WOODINVILLE, WA — Back at the NAMM show in 2012, Mackie kicked off a not-too-quiet revolution with its DL1608 iPad-enabled digital live mixer, which had 16 mic/line inputs and eight outputs (six aux sends plus L/R master outs) and a $999 street price. HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — After months of successful field testing, BBE Sound has begun shipping the BBE MP24M digital mixer, the only digital mixing system available with BBE Sonic Maximizer processing. The MP24M offers 24 Class-A mic preamps; a virtual rack of 14 31-band graphic EQ’s; eight aux sends and four subgroups (all with full DSP); and precise LED metering.

Harting’s Han-Eco Outdoor connector makes use of a lightweight plastic material which, when mated through its FPM (Fluor Polymer Rubber) flange seal, provides IP65, UV, ozone and acid-rain resistant protection. The combination promises a reduction in maintenance costs for utdoor theme park cabling systems.

Pivitec, based in Bethlehem, PA, says its new e64i/o-MADI 64-channel AVB network interface might be the world’s first AVB to MADI bridge. The Pivitec e64i/o-MADI is a bi-directional interface that utilizes both BNC and SC Multi-Mode Fiber Optic connectors to interface with mixing consoles or any other MADI devices.

K-array’s KH8 and KS8 are the first products in the company’s Firenze Series – line array speakers promising to combine a slim, compact form factor with 145 dB SPL output and a new design to speed setup and sound management.

WOODINVILLE, WA — Mackie launched the DL32R, a 32-channel digital live mixer with iPad control from Mackie’s Master Fader app. The DL32R offers complete wireless control over everything, including fully-loaded DSP and multi-track recording/playback.
