Earthworks’ CTB30 boundary microphone is optimized for speech. The wide and even coverage across the microphone’s pickup pattern means that just one CTB30 can provide excellent coverage for a 12 foot conference table that seats up to 12 people. The CTB30 also includes RF shielding to prevent interference from cell phones and other electronic devices.

Designed for advanced live audio production or broadcast applications, Lawo’s new mc2 96 Grand Audio Production Console is available in frame sizes with 24 to 200 faders and offers native support of all relevant standards — SMPTE 2110, AES67, Ravenna and Dante. The mc2 96 has 21.5″ full-HD touch screens as well as multiple TFTs in channel strips and touch-sensitive color-coded encoders, providing fast, user-friendly operation. In addition to standard channel labeling via channel numbers, individual text labels and static pictures or icons, the mc2 96 can display real-time video thumbnails right at the fader’s mini TFTs. Also standard is plug-and-play interfacing to Lawo DALLIS modular stageboxes, A-line interfaces and NOVA central routers. The mc2 96 surface includes local I/Os with 16 Lawo-grade mic/line inputs, 16 line outs, 8 AES-3 inputs/outputs, 8 GPIOs and a local MADI port.

Work Lifters unveiled safe towers at the Prolight + Sound show in Frankfurt recently. The towers are the result of three new patents that had been developed to comply with the limitations of the safety normative and improving security and robustness.

Available Q3 2017, Lectrosonics’ new Duet digital wireless IEM system consists of the M2T dual-stereo half-rack transmitter and M2R diversity belt pack receiver in the 470-608 MHz UHF range. The M2T houses two independent stereo transmitters, for up to four stereo or dual-mono transmissions in a single rack space. Audio inputs can be individually configured to be analog or Dante compatible. Dual RJ-45 ports accept Dante audio inputs and can cascade the digital stream to additional units via Cat-6 cables. An additional RJ-45 jack provides an Ethernet connection for programming and control via Wireless Designer software. The M2R bodypack receiver employs advanced antenna diversity switching during digital packet headers for seamless audio.

LAS VEGAS—Shure debuted its Axient Digital Wireless System at the 2017 NAB Show in Las Vegas. According to Product Manager Michael Johns, the system includes unique designs such as a frequency diversity handheld microphone (ADX2FD), and a micro-bodypack with a self-tuning internal antenna (ADX1M). The AD Series will be available in late summer 2017, and the ADX Series will be available in early 2018.

Whirlwind’s podMIXai, introduced earlier this year, is an active mixing device that combines a dynamic microphone with an unbalanced stereo audio source for connection to a single line level input of a sound system. It can be used with CD and MP3 players, mobile phones, computer sound cards and more, along with a microphone for announcements over background music. The output is mono-balanced line-level. The podMIXai, with its compact, rugged enclosure, is designed for ease of use. A wall adapter power supply is included which provides 12VAC at 1-Amp.

Audinate Introduces the new Dante Broadway Networking Chip. The chip is designed for mid-channel count audio products, and ideal for adding Dante audio networking to small mixers, power amplifiers, DSPs, hardware interfaces and conference solutions. Audinate will show the Dante Broadway Networking Chip at the upcoming NAB show.

LAS VEGAS – Neutrik USA announces opticalCON 
MTP24 Fiber Optic Solutions, optimized for pro AV and broadcast applications and ideal for long cable runs and point-to-point wiring where high fiber counts are required. The new 24-channel fiber optic connection system will be available 
in both opticalCON Advanced and opticalCON Lite versions in the second quarter of 2017. Neutrik will display the products at NAB April 22-27 in Las Vegas.

The next-gen of QSC’s K Family powered speakers, the new K.2 Series is comprised of the 8-inch K8.2, 10-inch K10.2 and 12-inch K12.2 fullrange models, and the KS212C — a compact 2,600-watt, dual-12 cardioid subwoofer. Each fullrange K.2 model features: onboard 2,000-watt powering and DMT (Directivity-Matched Transition) for smooth coverage. Built-in DSP offers Intrinsic Correction voicing, selectable presets and advanced system management. All three models can be used as for P.A. or floor monitoring and can be flown, wall/truss-mounted or placed on a speaker pole — either straight-firing or with a -7.5-degree down-tilt. K.2 Series availability begins in mid-May, with the KS212C cardioid sub slated for late summer 2017.

Making its North American debut at the 2017 NAB Show, Riedel is touting its new Bolero product as a game-changing new wireless intercom solution. An expandable, full-roaming, DECT-based intercom system in the license-free 1.9GHz frequency range, Bolero is fully integrated into Riedel’s Artist digital matrix intercom platform.

DirectOut has introduced a firmware update for its Andiamo series of audio converters. The firmware version 6.4 summing feature enables communication signals to be gathered from a larger number of devices (e.g. remote/mobile cameras), and to be distributed as a bundle throughout a production site.

DiGiCo is launching the 32-bit ‘John Stadius’ Mic Pre-Amp at Prolight + Sound 2017. This new improvement in converter technology has allowed John and his team to develop a Pre-Amp with audio qualities that they have long aspired to achieve during their 40 years of designing such products.
