Studio Six Digital’s iPrecisionMic, featured at InfoComm 2014, is a Type 1 class test & measurement microphone that plugs directly into any Lightning-connector equipped iOS device. No external preamp or power is required.

The microphone is factory calibrated and automatically transmits the calibration to the Studio Six Digital apps automatically, when iPrecisionMic is plugged in. It provides an upgrade to the AudioTools test & measurement platform, extending the range to professional noise and analysis work. iPrecisionMic is thus well suited for noise studies, critical acoustical analysis and speech intelligibility work.
All of the electronics, including the microphone preamp, A/D converters, and digital audio communication circuitry is contained in the microphone itself. iPrecisionMic uses a thread-on metal-diaphragm capsule.
Specifications for iPrecisionMic place it in the upper tier of acoustical test microphones:
- Frequency Response meets Type 1, +/-1dB 20-20kHz Dynamic range 20dBA to 128dBA in two ranges
- Meets all environmental requirements for Type 1 Certification
