Sommer Cable is introducing the new SC-Semicolon 4 AES/EBU patch and microphone cable with advanced aramid reinforcement. To make life less stressful for audio and stage engineers, Sommer developed this new compact and durable version of an AES/EBU and DMX capable microphone cable with an added mesh of aramid fibers worked into the outer jacket.
Aramid fibers are a class of heat-resistant and strong synthetic fibers. In addition to Sommer’s application, aramid fibers are used in aerospace and military applications, for ballistic-rated body armor fabric and ballistic composites, in marine cordage, and in marine hull reinforcement.
Sommer’s new aramid cable reinforcement serves as an extra strain relief, greatly increasing the bending cycles and providing added durability. The result is a compact and inconspicuous microphone cable that is a reliable workhorse able to withstand damage in rigorous daily use. The design is particularly popular in broadcast and theater engineering, and in applications with belt pull cable drums in location broadcast trucks or on theater stages. It’s also suitable for connecting effects devices and control units where a return signal is required.
