DAD (Digital Audio Denmark) — a wholly-owned business unit and brand within the company NTP Technology A/S — definitely turned heads at InfoComm with its Thunder | Core Series of lightning-fast (near-zero latency) audio interface connections for your digital consoles and macOS or Windows-based computers, offering 256 bidirectional channels via Thunderbolt 3, as well as various additional I/O connections depending on which model you choose.

The flagship AX64 | Modular Audio Interface is a multi-format modular audio Interface, A/D and D/A converter, router and monitoring system with a capacity for 256 channels of Thunderbolt 3; 256 channels of Dante I/O; 64 channels of MADI (BNC I/O); 16 channels of ADAT dual-TosLink optical, which can also be two S/PDIF channels; as well as built-in PRO|MON with 512×64 channel summing, 64-channel speaker EQ processing and Control|Pack. Eight slots for DAD expansion cards are standard.
The AX Center | Audio Interface is a Thunderbolt 3 interface with dual mic and instrument inputs, dual headphones and monitor outputs, built-in PRO|MON monitor control with speaker EQ, Control | Pack and two slots for DAD expansion cards.
Although in a compact chassis, the Core 256 | Digital Audio Interface offers a surprising amount of power, with tons of channels, a wide palette of digital connectivity, built-in Control | Pack, SPQ processing, internal summing engine and drivers for macOS and Windows 10 — all with pristine digital audio performance.
To support live sound production, DAD has been working on adding AVB Milan expansion cards, while also moving toward ST 2110 expansion cards for broadcast facilities and OB trucks.
At InfoComm, DAD showed its latest creations: AVB Milan / ST 2110 Expansion Cards offering Analog In, Analog Out, Dante, MADI, AES and 3G SDI for its Thunder | Core and Penta product ranges. To support live sound production, DAD has been working on adding AVB Milan expansion cards, while also moving toward ST 2110 expansion cards for broadcast facilities and OB trucks. DAD’s AX64, AX32 and Penta 720 units can hold up to eight expansion cards. The AX Center holds up to two, and Penta 721s has room for one.
