Celestion announced it will introduce its CDV1-1757 compression driver at the upcoming Pro Light + Sound Middle East show in Dubai, set for Sept. 23-25.

More details from Celestion (www.celestion.com):

Celestion, one of the world’s leading suppliers of professional loudspeakers and compression drivers for sound reinforcement applications well-known for their drivers used by the world’s legendary guitarists, is pleased to introduce the CDV1-1757 compression driver at the upcoming Pro Light + Sound Middle East show in Dubai on September 23-25, 2018.

The new CDV1-1757 is a compression driver specifically designed for optimum performance across the critical vocal band. This makes the product ideal for applications such as the broadcast of the Adhan, where maximum clarity and intelligibility is demanded for the voice of the Imam, with the capability to reach worshippers over the greatest possible distance.

“Pure vocal applications such as the Call to Prayer, require a more application-specific approach to compression driver design” commented Celestion Head of Engineering, Paul Cork. “By taking a fresh look at one of our existing designs–modifying the phase plug and optimising the volume of the rear loading chamber–we were able to create a device that gave additional focus to the part of the frequency range where the voice sits. This led us to develop a driver with a greater vocal output level together with enhanced clarity.”

This driver features Celestion technology built in, including a 1.75” (44mm) edgewound copper clad aluminium voice coil; tough, single piece polyimide diaphragm/surround; plus finite element analysis (FEA) optimised magnet assembly and phase plug. This enables the driver to deliver 120W continuous power handling (60Wrms, AES standard) and 107dB sensitivity. A standard 1.38” (35mm) screw fitting provides maximum compatibility with a range of Celestion and third party horn flares.
